As I understand it, this is a Republican Congress/ Senate thing that’s being laid at the door of Obama. On this issue I’ve only read that he’s been consistently for closing it down and getting the detainees charged or released. Jack- are you being insincere or outright false?

You are absolutely right, we cannot blame Obame for refusing to be productive, fullfill his oaths of office, or doing his job.

It’s a political card that will be played. I know it’s being cynical, but I don’t look for Guantanamo to become a real issue until just before the 2014 Congressional elections or the 2016 Presidential elections.

That “birther” hasn’t even hatched yet, but will be reptilian when it emerges.

Yes. Obama said he’d close Gitmo. He also said he’d label GMOs.

Interesting that all the things he’s ‘failed’ at are issues the GOP holds very dear to its heart.

Let’s try to blame him for stuff he’s actually done wrong, not what someone else has done wrong.

    ^astounding. we are in agreement.

the bottom line is the republicans do everything they can to obstruct Obama. No one really cared much about gitmo. However, once Obama said he would close it, the house republicans, with their laser-like focus on jobs, leaped to make sure it stayed open, and then accused Obama of not keeping his promise.
