I HATE this character! Gave me nightmares when I was 12 and tried to read the book. Still can’t watch it when on the screen. Can we please move on?

I think it needs a sedative.

I think Tolkien must have used a spoiled kid as the inspiration for Gollum’s character. If it weren’t for the fact that Tolkien wrote these famous books in the 50’s I would swear he’s seen the video’s of all the brats complaining about their xmas gifts.

I saw The Hobbit in 2D two weeks ago; then saw it again in 3D yesterday (hubby wanted to compare). Oh, WOW! : D So glad I did. If you haven’t seen it yet, GO! And if you haven’t read it yet, don’t wait any longer!

I adore Gollum. He’s one of the reasons I became a therapist.

Normally I wouldn’t revisit a LOTR/Hobbit-type storyline, but there was a young woman fan I met at NYC Comic Con who really enjoyed them. She had clipped all the strips from previous like stories of years gone by and put them into a small binder. And she came and saw me at the con and asked my to sign some of her favortite strips, and then she begged me to write another HEART story about the Hobbit once the movie came out. She is also a kindergarten teacher, and I have a hard time saying no to them.
So call me lazy or say I don’t care what readers think, but this story is for her. If you don’t like it, there are hundreds of other comic strips on the Gocomics site to chose from. I suggest you go there.

Mark… it wasn’t me at the Comic Con, but I’m really enjoying this arc. Dean and I share many tastes, and interests, and favorites.
.
Thanks!

I love seeing how much you care about your fans. Any TRUE fan, even if they didn’t like LOTR/Hobbit story lines, will come back for your sweet characters and honest writing style in the end.

@mtatulli, are you saying she brought you a binder full of hobbits?

@Monkeyhead
He wrote “The Hobbit” in 1937. The movie is excellent.
