Gary Markstein cut his cartooning teeth while doodling in the margins of his grade-school homework. At least we won’t all die a sure death from either the OtaxCare or global warming religion.

Make that 2012 DA14.

More likely to be a metric vs. English measurements error than a missing decimal place… but with the GOP’s across-the-board budget sequester, we may not need to worry about getting timely warnings from scientists in the future.

The space station dodges little rocks all the time, the crew has a special room they hide in with the door shut.
.
Not sure what taxes have to do with this, asteroids are nonpolitical.
Rockngolfer said, 4 months ago
@Stipple
There is a very small chance that a satellite may be hit by the asteroid.
The geosynchronus satellites are 22,236 miles above the Earth.
The International Space Station is much lower, between 205 miles and 410 miles.

@Mr. King
That’s right. No worries about it hitting Earth this time or when it comes near again in 2020.

I did just find my old slide rule, and like ARodney, did have the hope they aren’t confusing metric for English, and didn’t miss a decimal point! (btw, some time ago saw a guy who was really good with a slide rule beat out a computer on time and accuracy, but that was a long time ago, probably couldn’t today with newer chips..)

Seeing that Climate Change has been proven shouldn’t you be beating a new dead horse by now?

That’s not a “small room” —it’s one of the Russian space modules that got them up there. It’s larger than the ones they use now because it has to fit everyone up there in such a situation.

At least the ’toon pinpointed the right place for the comment…. ; )
