Plumbing the depths of the paternal mind. Not always easy to flush out the true meaning.

Mike Diamond plumbing out here in SoCal has been running radio ads about Bubba, the smelly type plumber, and his nephew Jose. Back from the Army, dedicated, hard working, etc. Latest one has a satisfied customer requesting Jose take a cruise with them. Incase of plumbing problems.. They must be on Carnival Cruises.

Man, I hate those commercials! I don’t care if my plumber’s rear cleavage shows and he doesn’t smell shower fresh. I just want him to do a good job for a reasonable price. I used to have a plumber who was the epitome of a Mike Diamond commercial, but he was the best ever. One day he showed up to pick up a check on his way to a date, all brushed and cleaned and dressed to the 9s. I didn’t recognize him!

In the eastern sierra, plumbers charge $90 “travel time” just to show up, then $90 per hour to work. Funny how its always an extra trip for them for everyone in town. A 20 minute job with simple parts is over $200.

One must ask why you call a plumber at all.
Simple parts? Have you no tools? Or are you paying for something beyond your ability?

Three years ago, kitchen sink backed up. Didn’t have a snake to clean it out, called a plumber, he came out, wheeled in an electric snake, was outta there in 15 minutes…$240.00!
Bought a 100’ snake.($45.00) and that’s the last time I’ll ever call a plumber unless, of course, it’s outside and then only as a last resort.

Well, there’s some stuff that I’m simply not competent at. Like installing valves when soldering is required. I’ve botched enough stuff over the years to know what I can and can’t do. Sometimes plumbers, expensive though they be, are worth it.

I think the point is that PLUMBING is worth it.

My reply is there. Thanks so much!

My kinda strip today. Soooooo much more enjoyable to see a kid trying to master her ability to reason than to know all there is to know at age eight.

My brother in law recently showed me how to install a new toilet in a house. It’s not that tough.
