    Sometimes I get the FBI notices that they’re working with the UN to get the money the Nigerian’s promised me.

    People are wired for achievement. Anytime you find something where the reward is a boatload of achievement, you will keep pressing that button long past any sensible time-point when that button paid you a dividend. Stock market works the same way.

    Even with the filters, I still get the spam e-mail, somehow. I spent a few minutes each day unsubscribing from that unwanted crap. Of course that results in occasionally not even having e-mail some days.

    I had friends who needed cheering up. I bought them an audiobook from Audible. When I hadn’t heard anything for a while I e-mailed. Their spam filter had intercepted my gift!
