Hamsters on the loose can eat holes in carpets..even in the centre of the rug….as my godmother found out so many decades ago. Lol Michael should be the one…the only one…looking after this pet. In fact, I’d make him take it back to the school as he didn’t ask his parents for permission, first , to bring it home. His mom is working and anything could go wrong while she’s not home. Turn the car around, Ellie.

It’s a hamster. Is that really too much for an adult to cope with? Elli can put on her big-girl pants and get through 7 days with a rodent in a cage.

Forget the hamster. My wife bought my granddaughter a baby albino lagomorph for Easter when she (my GD) was a year old.

Now, 9 years later, it’s my pet (always has been it seems, his cage has been in my home office since day one), and his cage definitely needs to be cleaned every day.

Michael needs to be an active participant in this. Elly should supervise, but Michael should be doing most of it.

Hamsters are highly entertaining, but they are the nastiest and most troublesome animals you can own.

    Lynn’s Notes:
This scenario wasn’t part of our family history. I took this idea from another mom whose household was constantly augmented by other people’s pets – as well as the occasional school mascot needing a temporary roost. Sallie and Frank had two dogs, a cat , and a parakeet, so folks needing kennel space often asked these kind folks to take in another jowl to feed.

Lagomorph or rabbit. Education is learning that which you didn’t know before.

Nice transition from I to you, Michael. The next sound you will hear will that of a lost hamster.
