It's the End of Civilization as we know it. A mutagenic plague followed by a global war fought with disintegration weaponry has left much of the Earth a desert of fine powder and what remains of humanity fragmented into humans, animal-like mutants and bloodthirsty monstrosities with lots of teeth. The surface, still teeming with the mutagenic virus, has become the domain of the dreaded Topsiders; well-organized, technologically advanced, and heavily armed un-mutated humans sworn to exterminate mutations of any kind in order to clear the way for the eventual resurgence of a new, genetically clean humanity. Faced with annihilation, mutants and "impure" humans have retreated into the depths of the planet to form communities and hope to win, or at least survive, what may prove to be mankind's final war. Endtown is the continuing story of one of those communities.

I think Linda is getting a little fed up with this conversation.

The girl in panel 3 looks like the “normal people” in the Twilight Zone episode they are referring to. Nice touch of irony.

Careful Linda, don’t get in any trouble, girl!

Evidence that Bigotry, Ignorance, and Stupidity are equal opportunity frailties of human and mutant kind.

Oh yeah the one where everyone looks alike. Except for the pretty one who isn’t ugly……I have a full disk of Twilight zones. Enjoy.

The thought is very interesting. How do they know that they are all pure. How do we know .They could be hiding behind the costumes. Children could be raised in “Vats”. Transfer from a vial to a tub to grow in the lovely floating nutritinal fluids, with no baby food, toys, NO MOMMA!!!. Kid ready to be your kid. How do you know that it is your kid. All sterile until they get their own little suits. OK Aaron. Can we in some time in the future have some insight to the lives behind the domes????

For a cliffhanger this is a calm scene. Fireworks for Monday!

She’s still part of her background, of course
But she should here consider the source
These folks causing pain
Have some right to complain
As they’re targets of Topsider force
What new argument could she engage?
What’s the point of pro-Topsider rage?
All the pain here, quite keen
Makes me think of a scene
From Bob Seger’s song “Turn the Page”

Hm, I already wondered how she could have given birth to a child in the biosuit. And how is the energy management dealt with? I would think it’s more believable if they have protected areas where you can take of the biosuit, like the one scene with the docking of the transporter indicates. If this mutagene is really only a virus (for which it’s acting too fast), normal biohazard level 4 sterilizing procedures must be sufficent.

Linda used to be a “sooopermodel” type.
I wonder how the Slopsiders measure genetic “fitness?” With some 15,000+ bad genes in the human genetic code and 50 to 300 having been added each generation for the last however many years, what would qualify as “fit” to them? Everyone has hundreds to thousands of these mutated genes.
(That was something that Stargate SG1 unwittingly got right, but in a sideways fashion. While it wasn’t known how many messups were in the human genome then, the series explored the idea of clones losing their genetic viability over millennia. We humans appear to have naturally done so, with messups in our genes being passed on and added to in every generation.)
With modern damage to the genes such as happens with ionizing radiation, marijuana, and other means, one wonders how many more than that 50 to 300 is happening now.

Well besides mutating they are still human “underneath”.
