Senate Staffers really are over-achievers. GT isn’t far off the mark. They’re sort of like interns in a law firm.

Yah, I cut it off about 65 hours a week myself. But they take it easy on me since I’ll be 60 this year.

There needs to be more experienced ‘real’ people in the work force. At the top. Someone has to tell these scallywags that you don’t have to burn the proverbial at both ends to survive or be seen to be ambitious.

So, reducing the workload. Make sure they understand. My boss’s expectation was always more, more more…until I crumbled! And then they wanted more. I’m 64, so watch it. I have since gone

Let them get over it. You have more to offer than being there every hour. After all, what’d they hire you for?

    How old is Joanie, anyway?
She should be retired and living on the fruits of SSI.
Of course, her husband being an unpaid blogger doesn’t help much.

That’s the thing about older workers- They know when enough is enough. They also know hard work and enthusiasm will only get you so far- after that you either have to be related or given it up to really get ahead.

I don’t see the point of such over work. Looks to me that if they do so and don’t make it up they will be useless by the end of the week.

Yea, I agree. In this day and age Its far more important in who you know, and what support & resources you are born into, or LUCKED into, then it is in how hard you work or how educated or smart you are, in regard to professional identity success.

The young people should be glad that an older person takes some time off so that the younger folks have something constructive to do. It’s really stupid making people work longer years until they retire, all that does is sets the younger generations back on getting their professional careers started so they can save up for their retirement.
