    Apparently, in the early photographs taken in the nineteenth century, nobody smiled. That was because the photographs took so long, a smile was too hard to hold.

    @Bruno Zeigerts

    Was even worse than that. they had a frame work to brace the subject so they wouldn’t sway and such. The subject basically backed into the frame and hide it from view. I won’t say every picture was braced but a lot were, it was common up until they started using that flash powder.

    So did the camera actually capture Iggy’s yip?

    That is why their eyes usually look odd because they had to blink. It was easier when the subject was dead. A lot of people had their only photo ever taken when in that condition.

    LOL! Needed that – we put our beloved husky to sleep this morning, as she had cancer. I still have Kenny to love, though!

    @Lisa4romMpls- I am sorry as well. When you get to feeling better, a shelter dog would be oh so grateful for your love!

    Still doing it in some parts of the country. Maybe elsewhere in the world too … but it kind of gives me the creeps. I certainly would support a camera free viewing after my death … if there is to be a viewing at all.

    My critters loathe being photographed. They hate that light :-)

    My sincere condolences on your loss. It’s never easy, however necessary.

    But .. yep, we’ve got Kenny!

    Oh, hey – GSDs are easy! Try it with sighthounds … any breed of sighthounds! rotfl!

    I am sorry as well, the love of a dog can never be replaced, and only special people understand that…so you are very special
