Yesterday my roommate and me organized the foyer of my apartment. I originally wanted to design like a japanese room – no clutter and very minimalist, but because we both travel, it’s full of suitcases and other things (don’t tell me to put them in the closets, you should see our closets).6
I did get rid of some things and discovered a wash basket full of papers and cartoons I’ve been looking for for years – now I must go through them.
But I must also go through a very big pile of National Geographics that my roommate brought home.I need to go through the Geo’s by today so the super can reach my window to re-install my A/C (NYCity wants all A/Cs to have brackets underneath them, so the super took tmy A/C out to see if it had a bracket; it didn’t, so I bought one and now it’s ready to be re-installed).
@david42: Does feliz cumpleaños say “happy birthday” in Spanish? (I used a translator)
THE SUPREMES. I am watching the Supreme Court as it makes a decision on an interesting case – Lozman v. the city of Riviera Beach, Fla. ( Is it a house or a boat? ) The court is hearing the case now and its decision may impact maritime law and could affect houseboats and other floating homes as well as floating businesses like casinos, hotels and restaurants. Google “fane lozman supreme court” (without the quote marks) if you want to read about it. Today’s Huffington Post article, posted within the past hour, it a bit of a hoot.
Not to take away your thunder, David, but today is my birthday. I won’t tell you how many, but I do qualify as a senior. Not going to celebrate until my face heals up a bit more. I still look like I was mugged.
Boat or House?, cont. BTW, the plaintiff (Lozman) is a former Marine Corps officer & pilot. I hope he prevails… the decision will take 60 to 90 days or more…
I’ve been quite busy, and just to let y’all know……..my visit with my surgeon………he took out about a 3 inch radius of fibrous tissue in my remaining breast. He wanted to be 100% sure that the lumps I felt, and the one he felt were gone. And, pathology report shows them all benign! HURRAY!
We been working in the two gardens putting everything to bed for the winter. Picked all the veggies we could, and set up the compost pile. The green house is still working, we can close the windows and doors and things will still grow and be warm for a few more weeks. We moved a bunch of container plants to the garage. That way the few herbs that winter well will still grow, and a few of the flowers, and of course, a big tub of potatoes. We should be good for a long while. I just LOVE all that fresh stuff!
So……..if I don’t check in for a few days, I’m still processing peppers and tomatoes and the last (finally) of the zucchini.
We’re expecting our first precip tonight and tomorrow from all summer! We’ve had the driest summer on record! There is a cold front coming in from Alaska & Canada, and we might even get some snow!
On the subject nof squash. When I was living on Kings Hill, just out of curiousity I ate a small yellow crookneck squash. about three inches, give or take. Kinda crunchy and a litttle nutty and delicious. I nate more raw then I cooked.
