Hey! Don’t be dissin’ the Starship until you listen to Blows Against The Empire. Their latter crap was crap but the early stuff was great. Dragonfly was also excellent. You want pain, listen to everything recorded since 1977.
I’m glad for a couple of the comments just above. I was beginning to think I was the only person who knew that Starship grew out of the ashes of Jefferson Airplane/Hot Tuna. And to those of us who know Airplane, that’s what makes ‘We Built This City’ so appalling. On it’s own, it a moderately catchy but forget-able pop/rock song If it were just some generic pop group, and it sounds like it’s just some generic pop group, it wouldn’t be worth comment. But it’s Jefferson Airplane, a group that defined the late 60’s and made some truly great music that so offends.

Perhaps that song that Celine Dion sang that did more damage to the Titanic than the iceburg.

I can think of a lot worse songs than We Built This City. Anything by Neil Young would qualify.

Come on! Don’t pick on oldies; pick on current artists. They won’t even be remembered in 30 years. Besides, I rather like “We Built This City.”
