Ironically, the one talking about Canada’s advantages looks kind of like a caveman. Who is he?

Relations with First Nations weren’t that great. And the francophone and anglophone Canadians don’t get along too swimmingly, either.

I’d agree that Americans could learn some things from their northern neighbors, but let’s not go overboard.

Could Canada be what it is if the United States were not what it is? I think not.

Wait: Canada has more guns per capita but a lower gun crime rate? Doesn’t that sort of kick the legs out from under gun control advocates?

Sir John forgot to mention that we have actual freedom instead of only paying lip service to it. I think the eventual downfall of the US will be because of collective arrogance (see above comments).

Canadian health care was the argument against moving to Canada, which Obamacare eliminates. Canada’s economy is healthier, their gun control laws are slowly being relaxed, they have a much more realistic energy policy, lots to like. Not perfect but they’re moving in the right direction, unlike America.

Americans have WAY more guns per capita according to the last study done.Canada’s economy is disproportionately linked to the oil industry these days with the shale oil sands booming, which means they are relaxing their environmental standards, which is not so good. Getting that oil is a dirty job indeed.I like Canada and Canadian cities — I’ve spent significant time in Toronto and Vancouver and some in Montréal — and of course single-payer is way better than any other plan proposed to date, especially Romneycare, but it isn’t perfect.

I think Abe meant ma TANTE. Monoliguistic English speakers find grammatical gender strange and variable adjectives even stranger.

O Canada!

As a Wisconsinite, I can forgive Canadians for whupping our a$$es in 1812 but not for beating us to the invention of poutines.

my middle school French teacher was “Madame Fleurs” – she was Southern and we learned to speak French with a pronounced Southern twang. Sort of like this: Bone-joor, mah cla-ase. Comment aylay-ve-oo? My HS French teacher spent the next four years correcting our pronunciation (small town – one middle and one high school)

Ah, yes, Canada. The country that wants to run the Keystone pipeline through us so they can sell oil to the rest of the world, NOT to us. Right.

and if it was a C$5 to whom Abe was talking, he could go ’round back and get in a pickup game of hockey

To be clear – first two panels – Abe is talking to Sir Wilfrid Laurier (on the $5 bill – thus the blue hue); the rest – he’s talking to Sir John A. Macdonald (on the $10 bill – thus the purple hue). Canadian money – different colours so you pay the right amount out at the bar.

In my humble opinion it would be better if the US had a different method of electing its leader. More choice would seem a better option.
