The music on those things is out of tune. Drives me nuts…

Richard, I think they suck on the dry ice to dull the melody…

Great. Now I’ve got the jingle stuck in my head for the rest of the day. As they say – misery loves company:

The creamiest, dreamiest soft ice creamYou get from Mister Softee. For a refreshing delight supremeLook for Mister Softee.

My milkshakes and my sundaes and my cones are such a treat.Listen for my store on wheels — ding-a-ling down the street.S-O-F-T double EMister Softee!

The ice cream truck in my neighborhood played “Music Box Dancer”. That’s another tune that gets old in a hurry.

The ice cream trucks in my neighborhood come by any time of year, and only play “The Entertainer” — I hate that song.

When I lived in Japan, the trucks with the tinkly tunes were the trash collectors.

Laughing at the variety of different music that ice cream trucks play in different neighborhoods. Unfortunately, I get all of them at various times. Just on Friday there were 4 of them circling the streets, two on mine at one time. Imagine, if you will: Dueling Ice Cream Trucks, the movie!

The ice cream truck that used to cruise my neighborhood played “Turkey In the Straw”, too.

Hmm…what I wouldn’t give for an ice cream truck that stayed put long enough to get money and catch it. After a couple of half-mile sprints with two young kids and one car chase, I have only caught an ice cream truck once.

the ice cream vendors in South Los Angeles, where I used to teach, had push carts. They sold snacks and stink bombs.

Around here they tend to change the music every couple of years, but it’s still the same song all summer long.

About out of tune recordings: classic blues album “East West” by the Butterfield Blues band; the title track runs several minutes and for most of it the bass is like maybe a quarter tone sharp. I am unable to listen to the whole thing.

If Frazz has had enough of that music, imagine how the ice cream truck driver feels.
