Alex is a beautiful bride.

Uh, so what we’ve been seeing this week is the rehearsal dinner? I thought it was the wedding reception. Let’s hope Alex’s mom and the loser don’t ruin it for her.And I like the newer hairstyle. Trudeau should change it up for her. After all, Luann didn’t stay the same….

That’s one of those moments dads standing in the delivery room know they might face someday, when they feel under their feet the click on the land mine of life. Nothing will be the same foreverafter.

Aw. I want to frame this one.

Love that “click on the land mine of life.” Also, when was the last time we saw those big wide surprised eyes on the usually laconic Mike?

Oh boo hoo!!

My daughters left me for adulthood a lot of years ago. I still – always will – miss being the only man in their lives for all those too few years. Damn, this strip was throat-lumpy.

More architecture in this strip than most. The renderings of the staircase are very nice. The house is more than just some rooms.

And yes. HBT captures poignant. Not something a comic strip often does. This is one to buy, frame, and give as a gift to the father of every bride. (Well, maybe not every bride.)

This may be one of those perfect Dad moments. I don’t have daughters, but I do dream about watching my sons marry some day.

Depending on the moment, my 31 year old daughter’s expression/laugh/eye rolls can take me back to every moment from the time she was born to the time she left for college. I had my moment of closure at the wedding when we had a father/daughter dance near the end of her wedding. I hope GT can give Mike a moment like that as well. Then pass her over to her Toggle and go dance with his Kim. Thank you for the memories Mr. Trudeau. Life’s been good.

I was fortunate to have the “silhouette” moment 3 years ago. Bittersweet is not quite right, but the sense of loss is palpable.

This is perfect for Father’s Day. Thank you, Sir.

I have enjoyed this strip for its entire run, and this is up there with the top strips!

Today’s strip brought a tear to my eye and a lump in my throat. I couldn’t help but think of my own daughter and how she’s progressed from that little kid in a pony-tail, to a beautiful young woman eager to conquer the world, to an even more beautiful, mature mother with a 17 year old son.Thanks, Gary. This was a great Father’s Day gift.And btw, my daughter just called me to wish me a happy Fathers Day and invite me to lunch, while I was typing this. How cool is that!

Here’s a nod of respect to all you commenteers – your words brought moisture to my eyes.

My own father died before I was brought home from the hospital I was born in, and I have never had children of my own, and I still teared up. Weddings, like funerals, are just major time markers. I knew an undertaker who said it was important not to overplan one’s own funeral, but leave something for the survivors to busy themselves with to help keep them from falling apart. Maybe the principle explains some of the bridezilla behavor we see. Anyway, thank you Garry.

The realisation his baby girl is no longer a baby. All grown up and leaving home. .Happy Father’s Day.

Brought tears to my eyes. Nicely done Mr. Trudeau— you’ve captured the thoughts of every father when he realizes his daughter is all grown up. Beautiful.

C. Downs: with the story line of Toggle and Alex. A good friend suffered severe TBI, was unable to walk for a couple years. He worked incredibly hard for months, toward one goal. He WAS able to walk his daughter down the aisle, and at the reception, danced with her to the song “Daddy’s girl”. THAT was a “moment”!

I almost wish her hair was in its normal style. Sure, she looks like she jumped right out of a picture-perfect bridal magazine… but she doesn’t look much like Alex.

Time to dig out that old copy of “Still a Few Bugs in the System” and start over. Thanks for the great ride GT.

My reaction to Alex was WHOA! Great week for this already great strip.

Perfect for Father’s Day. I’m waiting for the wedding ceremony though. I wonder if GT will do something like the Rev asking Leo if he takes Alex as his bride, only to have Leo pause and then instead of stuttering, saying “I do” then turning to Alex and whispering “Been practicing… since we first met”.
