Actually, dirigibles are hollow rigid constructions held up by a large number of individual gasbags. br> What is with J. Matt Adams? I like Obama, I like him better than any president I have seen in my 55 years of life. He has more common sense and humanity than all the GOP candidates combined. (He just tries too hard to find the middle, and play nice with his avowed enemies on the right.) But if I didn’t like him, and I thought that the last century of American progress was just one long march to totalitarian hell, brought on by such socialist villains as TR (who believed in a progressive tax system and universal health insurance), Woodrow Wilson, FDR, etc., I could come up with a much better dig than his. Come on, J. Matt. The Hindenburg was the pride of the Third Reich. No Nazi references? The Hindenburg burned and crashed (in that order) on arrival. Can’t you work that in? The Hindenburg was greatly admired but proved fatally flawed. And still the best you could come up with was the incoherent remark of the radio announcer covering the landing? Tsk, tsk. But never fear, I am sure there are plenty of others to come up with cleverer vitriol than you managed.

And once again we see Republicans rushing to defend thirty years of failure for supply-side economics. Bush the Elder was right the first time when he called it “voodoo economics,” but they keep peddling it because there are no new ideas on the right.

“Cheney is Back …..and America needs him……….someone who actually knows something and works for America. Driving Dem Libs nuts is a bonus”Cheney is the one who said deficits don’t matter. Halliburton did arms business with Saddam through a French subsidiary while Cheney was CEO. Are you saying deficits and doing arms business with our enemies is what’s best for America?

You mean back in the days when both parties knew the meaning of the word compromise? It’s not the Democrats in the House who have gone back onb their word regarding cuts to the Pentagon budget.

The problem is, today’s radical right “conservatives” see themselves as an exclusive club, whose points are made, exclusive of any actual facts.(on almost ANY issue, not by any means just “economics”)

Tax cuts for the wealthy DO NOT WORK. Taxs are lower then they have been in decades, and yet, unemployment remains high.

So you’re saying you follow O blindly? You spend like he does? If so, how’s the credit card limit going? Have any credit left? Any savings? Which of O’s spending policies have resulted in anything positive? Look reality in the face before you get so hot and heavy.

I read the fire was fueled by gasoline that was used to water-proof and make air-tight the material used to hold the hydrogen. Were the engines diesel? Hydrogen flames shoot upwards away from the passengers. The gasoline flames expand in all directions. Either way, it was very bad for those onboard and nearby.

Of 97 people on the HIndenberg, 62 survived. That’s a higher percentage than “survivors” of the disaster “Bushonomics” represented, which of course was just “Reaganomics with a vengeance, and ignoring of the historical lessons and facts”.

“The O Man” is getting us out of the very place you call " a complete waste of taxpayer money". What more could he do, or do you prefer to hand the leadership back to the party that first put us there?

Check your research. All the evidence now is that America is becoming less economically mobile than it once was. Social mobility is now greater in Europe. Of course there are people born poor who will die rich; professional sports is full of them. Of course there are people born rich who will end poor. There are also people who will be struck by lightning or win the lottery. None of that changes the fact that wealth is becoming more and more concentrated in fewer and fewer hands, and with that wealth goes power. None of that changes the fact that a larger and larger portion of the population are poor now than were thirty years ago. I don’t care what policies are followed, per se, as long as those policies reverse this trend. At the moment, one party is trying, ineffectually, to do something about this decline in American equality and decay of American democracy. The other party revels in inequality, and thinks that the decline and decay are good things.

Are ya sitting down? This is gonna hurt, but it’s for your own good.

Okay, brace yourself, here it comes.

    You’re not God.

No, really, I’m sorry…but just because YOU say something over and over doesn’t make it the truth.

Now, here’s a couple of facts for ya…

Even ONE Senator can put a block on legislation.

To filibuser a bill, Senators no longer have to talk non-stop? All they have to do is stand up and say, “I filibuster” That’s it.

Oh the Dems could have done that….and in my opinion, they should have.

    But they didn’t

Somehow, I get the sense that all the rightie cons on this site have fallen for the lie that 2012 is going to be super close. Republicans will lose everything in November, and as a shattered minority everywhere but the SC, they’ll slowly radiate away their judges until they’re a footnote in history. Right next to “Whigs”.

The fact that you had to go back more then a decade to find an example of CONs compromising (you don’t even bother to name a specific piece of legislation) should tell you somthing. Now I want you to take five minutes and look up what a fillibuster is, then look up which side set the record for uses. And do that before you come with the “Obama had the senate”nonsense.

Newt was humbled when he was (rightly) blamed for the govt shut down. But let me ask you, how many people died because of clintons lies? How many did he put in danger, because the body count on bushs end is much larger. And I take it you never bothered to figure out what a fillibuster is, or that republicans hold the record. I would have loved to seen that kind of dem resistance against dick and bush, then watch you and your CONservative friends brand them as unpatriotic.
