@Arch Stanton – “Could be worse…”Yeah, they could be walking a highwire over Niagara Falls instead of being inside a tent. One of the “Flying Wallendas” will be doing exactly that, come June. And as anyone who’s been there knows, it’s always “raining” at the falls!Yep… just like Maxwell House: “Good to the Last Drop!”

All of you that believe that the Democratic health care bill is a good thing are in such denial. Show me the good that has come from it. I still cannot afford health care insurance(or healthcare) for myself and my spouse. We are approaching retirement age and are considered poor risks. Is the cost going to come down in 2014? I doubt it, but we will be taxed for not having insurance.

A lot of companies have already dropped health care benefits for their workers. Case in point is my brother-in-law who is 20 years younger than me and fortunately healthy. His wife is not so fortunate in her health and is totally fearful that her teaching assistant job will be eliminated, followed by her insurance.

Now, Republicans, what kind of alternative have you offered?

It has come to the point in this country that “We the People” is just a tired old phrase. We the people should rise up and let our voices be heard. If yours is a racist voice, stifle it until you can learn to love others. If you hate those who disagree with you, learn where the common ground is. As long as we can be swayed by the fast talking extremeists, of either party, we will be a house divided. Come on people, find the common ground. If we are to have a large government, it must truly do its job and help our country instead of dividing it through partisan politics.

Bring the jobs home, bring the troops home and work out new treaties with everyone. Stop sending our tax money overseas until we actually have a surplus. Then make sure whatever help we give will actually benefit us.

Churches, you are the ones who should be responsible for missionary type welfare. However, this would be dependant upon our jobs coming home so we could all pay our share of taxes and tithes.

My thoughts on this are not complete, so forgive me. Any help or positive input will be welcomed. If all you can do is hate, keep it to yourself.

This is probably a stupid thing to get into, but I’m not known for my brains, so here goes…

I receive Medicare. Part D prescription coverage directed by Bush sounded good until it was farmed out to insurance companies to handle. Everyone had to buy prescription insurance. Now I can’t get certain medications because they aren’t covered and have to settle for less effective alternatives. Insurance companies won that one.

When the politicians stripped Obamacare of its “public option” to placate the insurance companies and small government campaigners and ruled that we all need to buy health insurance…guess who won again? Insurance companies. When we hear that many people couldn’t qualify for health insurance before, what changed? Nothing, they will still be denied.

Insurance business is a large outside interest with a ton of money influencing politicians to help them make mega-tons of money. The way we are governed depends on greed.

Sad, but I believe it to be true. Money has totally corrupted the process in this country. No need to blame one party or the other…blame the pervasive greed.

Vonne. As usual Wiley hits the nail on its head. You are 100% correct. We have the best congress that money can buy. They sell their votes to whomever gives them the biggest"campaign contribution" what in plain english would be called a bribe. I have been ranting and railing about this for many years. The filch=filthy rich=1%=plutocracy, have taken over the country while we the sheeple have been nodding off on our couches. History always repeats. We now seem to be repeating the late roman era, replete with beer and football instead of bread and circuses. We are, in the words of many, screwed. The filch who own the TV networks know how to manipulate us. The easiest o manipulate are the Authoritarian Followers. Or as I call them, the rethug/teahaddist sheeple. However, it is always good to see another person open their eyes. Remember this. If the rethug/teahaddists win in Nov then they will implement the Ryan budget. Which in fact hands over medicare to insurance companies. The CBO states that it will not only make you pay $6,000 out of pocket the first year, that amount will increase until medicare is no more. They also want to remake Social Security into a private investment account. Which will mean that only the wall street bankers will profit, while the next recession/depression will mean that the individual retirement account will be wiped out. Shades of the 1920s. The “golden age”

What the “public” has yet to awake to is the fact that everything the Republicans have done to “privatize” since Reagan, has grabbed the public, and taxpayer, by the “privates” and cut deep. More than 90% of their “contracting” has doubled, or more the cost to the taxpayer, but gee, that means their friends’ profits have also elevated, while the “job elevator” headed for the basement.

At least the high wire folks aren’t getting shot at as part of THEIR act to please the audience.
