Um… I’m confused. The Wilson building is currently being used as an art museum. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_A.Wilson_Building#Currentuse

Andy Borowitz said that when Cheney woke up after the heart transplant his first question was “Am I still President.”

The childish level of Tigger’s remarks lead me to think he’s just a simple minded freelancer. No one would pay good money for the kinds of things this kid posts. There are some worthy comments from the right on these pages, one’s that actually would cause a reasonable reader to think, but Tigger is definitely not one of those! Maybe once he/she finishes elementary school…?

Anyone who says there is no jobs or justifies their unemployment payments should look to the scads of immigrants that built this country on hard work and saving’.Don’t forget all the hard work immigrants did in creating the labor unions that gave workers safe working conditions, put an end to 72 hour work weeks and decent working wages. Or do you just mean the immigrants who were mercilessly exploited by the Robber Barons?

That was generations ago. Try getting a job, any kind of job, today and you’ll find it’s a different story now. If they don’t require you to have the exact experience (and several years of it), then they’ll require you to speak Spanish, or be licensed, or some other thing that’s beyond your control. Today, anyone who points to “hard work and saving” needs to go to the local unemployment office and see what’s going on. In my locale, we don’t even HAVE unemployment offices; instead we have so-called job centers that in reality are private screening offices who work for businesses and not the public good.

Taxes are the dues of civil society. It’s the price one pays to insure that there are schools, libraries, highways, police protection, parks, national forests and monuments, clean air and water, national defense…etc., etc. We cannot do without these things! I pay taxes in unison with my fellow citizens to insure a healthful and safe living situation for all of us, and I pay them GLADLY. Maybe this is insulting to you and the propagandists at Fox Noise, but it’s simplistic to think you can just do away with taxes and then everything’s gong to be fine and dandy. We need to clean up government, eliminate corruption and increase it’s efficiency, not starve it to death.
