I think it should be declared unconstitutional for anyone to be forced to pay for things he doesn’t want, and it should be retroactive, too. So that I can get back that percentage of my tax bills for the last 30 years that went to pay for programs and policies of which I disapprove. And do you realize that there are laws against public nudity? Thus the government is forcing us to buy products we don’t want from private companies. Depriving who knows how many thousands of the liberty to be comfortable in hot weather.

It would only be Constitutional if we were still a part of the British Empire.

Let’s see…hmmm….it is OK to pay for right wing wars, wars that serve us poorly, kills Americans and that we do not want; but it is not OK to provide health care to save American lives that the masses of the working class and poor do want; and of course you, the GOP and your current ilk are the only ones that process that infallible knowledge of the political-corporate right…yet “…thirty-two of the thirty-three developed nations have universal health care, [with “US”], the United States, being the lone exception.”* Bravo, accolades to the GOP for standing atop the pile of sick and dying Americans and screaming out against a NHC System that could save so many Americans and reduce all health care cost in unison; thank you GOP for defending the most costly yet ineffective private system (except for private insurance companies) in providing health to all; thanks GOPers for doing all you can in keeping the potentially best health care system amongst the top thirty-three developed nations… at the bottom of accessible services and care for “Most” of our citizens…accolades, accolades…accolades…

Johnlofton -My point IS John, that it wasn’t ONLY Republicans. You Dems always make it out to sound that NO Dems went for it at ALL. No one put these Dems up to a microphone to help beat the war drums, they did that all on their lonesome. Bush didn’t call up Kerry or Pelosi etc etc and say, Hey buddies, do a favor for me and push this war for me. All of these Dems would have rather committed hari kari than do anything to help Bush. It’s only when the war was unfavored that you guys decided to get a short memory and forget your side of things. Otherwise if the War had gone as hoped you Dems would have said HEY, it’s because of US! Look! We even have records of being QUOTED on it! Yay us!

Yes, some days I only have half a brain and others none at all however, in this case I feel very confident it was all there (perhaps like HAL in “2001” though I think not). In JC’s time there was no “Hospitals” or health systems as we know them today, but it is JC’s “concept” of assisting and caring for our brothers and sisters that should be paramount. It is beyond the scope of Churches today to adequately address health care needs except in supporting rolls; so it is we must find and address that need in new and creative ways if we are to meet His concept…ways that have been in place for decades in the rest of the developed Nations of Western Civilization and also outside of the West. It is long past due then that we bring ourselves out of the dark ages of providing health care and join the rest of Western Civilization.

leweclectic – Refering to Jesus Christ as “JC” is very disrespectful in my view. Also, it pains me when people proceed to use Jesus and put words in His mouth to further their agenda. Yes, maybe both sides of the aisle does it, but I DO NOT! And again, when I’M taking care of my own, at the end of the day my monies are TAPPED OUT! I don’t have any money left over to be taxed for other people (A LOT that shouldn’t even BE on the system, such as illegals), and take care of them as well. Maybe when the gov’t can start showing me how THEY’RE responsible for the money they ALREADY take in without wasing it, and show me how they can run a business and show a profit, (unlike the post office, or the senate/congressional barbershop, or the congressional cafeteria), THEN maybe I wouldn’t be so resentful of them wanting MORE and MORE of MY money that I work hard for to make!

GOPers pushed the “private” health insurer component. Single payer managed by sound policies proven in numerous countries didn’t stand a chance. Britain does have “socialized” medicine, and better care, other countries using “single payer” systems with government plans/“private” doctors, have better care, AND lower costs.
