It’s all Bush’s fault. If Bush hadn’t started at least 1 unnecessary war then we wouldn’t have so many wounded military personnel. And you’re telling me that Obama personally wrote the Pentagon budget proposal? Not someone with info on what they need and are actually spending? Or that they needed to include something for Congress to B*tch about?

@NebulousRikulau- The president’s cuts also affect those veterans wounded in Afghanistan, Barack Obama’s self-proclaimed “War of Necessity.”

And is your defense of Obama really that he has no idea what’s really in the budget he theoretically wrote? Or is that your defense of Obamacare and the shovel-ready stimulus?

But let’s focus on the cartoon again. This is devastating and brilliant. Three cheers to Mike Lester for telling it like it is!

The “proposal” put forward is to increase Tricare premiums, as federal employee and retiree premiums have increased for decades. Maybe it is time, after decades, for some increase in the TRICARE premiums, but: The difference is Tricare was PROMISED when folks enlisted and spent their time in to fulfill their contract to be shot at for cheap pay in expectation of those benefits.

It is the MILITARY that has tried to cut many veteran’s benefits by proclaiming that their PTSD ISN’T, because it would cost “more”. The MILITARY, under "W"s direction was responsible. The VA under “W” was supposed to CUT FOLKS, under both Clinton and Obama, the direction is to SERVE FOLKS.

This issue has been brought forward in large part to make Republicans in Congress actually “put up, or shut up” on all the military, retiree, and VA benefits THEY have been cutting, for a long time. A less than inflation, and increased need budget for VA IS A CUT, THAT REPUBLICANS DEMANDED, while sending our troops to wars, and now fishing to start ANOTHER ONE!

At age 65, Tricare, just like Civil Service, converts folks to Medicare as “primary” insurer. BTW, because I have “private” insurance, VA actually billed my insurance company, until I reached 65. Now, VA cannot bill medicare, so they don’t bill THEM.

Claiming it is “Obama” “cutting” benefits is a fabrication of sorts, and needs to look at what REPUBLICANS IN CONGRESS have long been demanding in the way of “cost cutting”.

NOBODY, should be cutting our troop’s benefits promised them. Maybe Americans should write their Congesspersons, Republican AND Democrat, and tell them to actually defend our troops and retirees, it is time indeed for them to STOP PLAYING POLITICS, and put up or shut up!
