@ ReneTray: She can’t afford to, literally. While he’s making her numbers look good now, the moment TJ leaves her sales would plummet and the Area and District Managers will notice. Depending upon how big the drop is, she could possibly lose her job. So TJ’s got her by the short hairs; Ann’s in a no-win situation and TJ knows it.

I am getting really tired of the guys sprouting all those sex innuendos about Ann and TJ. This is not about sex. Sheesh. Ann is drawn to look attractive, but I really wish Greg would lengthen her skirt so the guys would not howl and whistle at her. Some men on this forum appear to have one-track mind about females.

Must be nice to live in comic land where freedom of contract really means equal bargaining power between labor and capital. In the real world, it means freedom to take whatever crap the boss offers….Or starve. Because some poor peasant in China will risk conditions that make the Triangle Shirtwaist Company look like a model factory and do so for 50 cents a day.

Zac, there are a bunch of new clowns here who have leaked out of the woodwork. They appear to live for the sole purpose of seeing their words appear on this bulletain board. But I wouldn’t take very seriously anyone who is sexually excited by a character in a comic strip.

My experience is that the most intelligent posters here don’t show up until normal daylight hours, but unfortunately, their posts are generally buried by the weirdos who like to stay up past midnight so they can be “FIRST!” on the LuAnn comic strip board. It is sad that GoComics decided to put the first comments on top rather than the latest ones, or the “most recommended” ones, but the result is that it really isn’t worth while to try to write an intelligent comment about the comic strip. Frankly I don’t know why I am wasting my time on it right now.

TJ never needed this job. He felt partially responsible for Brad being fired resulting in one of the very few cartoons where TJ’s smile was upside down. I submit TJ detests guilt & chose to get back at this abusive boss his way. We know he doesn’t intend to retire as a WW worker, so…as Richard Dreyfuss yelled in “American Grafitti”….“Stand By For Justice.”

Guys, I’d like to share something with you from the world of sales, which I was in for about a year. I know wherof I speak.I worked in an office selling home pest control services. We had Shannon, who repeatedly broke sales records for the entire company. We were supposed to be in the office noon to eight every day. Those were our hours. But if you made 4 sales, you could go home early. Shannon would come in around 2pm, HUNG OVER, then suddenly switch it on, pick up the phone, make 6 sales or so in a couple of hours, and then go home. Our manager went to a sales conference in Vegas for a week. For that entire week, Shannon No-called and No-Showed. Yes, for the entire week. When the manager returned from his trip, she also did about a day later (no, there wasn’t anything going on between them). Immediately when she came back, he yanked her into his office, yelled at her for about an hour, then…PUT HER RIGHT BACK TO WORK! If ANYONE else in that office had pulled the stunt she had, there was NO way she would’ve had a job to come back to.Do you know why she got away with all this: coming in whenever she felt like it, leaving early, doing a no-call no-show for a week? BECAUSE OF HER SALES!!! BECAUSE OF HER NUMBERS!!! I used to joke that if she brought a gun to the office and took a shot at our General Manager, she’d probably get away with it as long as she just winged him. Why BECAUSE OF THE MONEY SHE WAS BRINGING IN TO THE OFFICE!!!Yes, it’s exaggerated a bit. I don’t see her literally bowing anywhere. But it’s not exaggerated as some of you think. Keith

Bosses are not rational. I was the only machinist in a shop of 20 who could do a complex job that brought in 1/3 of the business income. One day the boss gathered everyone and asked what could be done to improve income. I told him three simple actions, but it wasn’t what he wanted to hear. He fired me and the business went under. He ended up in a mental hospital for a few months. He couldn’t fire the bank when they didn’t say what he wanted.

I strongly doubt Ann could authorize TJ double-time pay even if she wanted to. If WeenieWorld is suppose to be like any other multi-unit franchise corporation it would have very strict regulations on who got paid how much for what.`This storyline is moving more and more out of the realm of reality. I wouldn’t be too surprised to learn by Saturday it was all just a dream of either Brad’s or TJ’s.

He wasn’t as overbearing as yesterday. If I was thinking of “double” I probably would have said, “Uh, sure.” But if I wasn’t then I would have said, “Uh, nah, I’ll have . . ..” Anyway the point is the punch line and the arc being played out at the moment. Keeps me hanging on to see what will happen. It hasn’t been real funny yet but there may be a good one on the way. :)

Can’t remember if Ann knows TJ is Brad’s friend. If not – she may see him outside talking to Brad – and figure it all out. When that happens – Ann calls TJ into her office – and gives him a kiss. Is it love? Truce? TJ looks surprised. What next?

When did Ann meet TJ? I don’t think she ever met him before his coming in to apply for the job. Back when she was Bernice’s boss at Borderline, TJ did not come into the store. When Brad worked at WW, he didn’t come into the store either. Just Toni and Luann. TJ knew what was happening because he heard it all from Brad at home. He breezed in there to tell her that Brad got his firefighter job back – to rub that in her face. Then he told her he was applying for his job. She even asked “Who are you?” in her office at WW. They never met before that day.

Actually, it’s not clear that Ann knows what their relationship is – TJ just told her “Brad DeGroot got his firefighter job back”, and she didn’t know who he was. He immediately applied for Brad’s old job, so his giving her that info didn;t come across as rubbing her nose in anything. http://www.gocomics.com/luann/2011/12/03 .Quite frankly, I can’t see why that’d be an issue, since Ann makes a point of retaining control in the face of a challenge – she would have hired TJ anyway just to prove Brad was nothing to her, and if she found out now, she’d still be in the same spot – unable to fire him because her sales would slump.
