LOL Sorry Superfrog; I couldn’t resist it. Now, where’s the booth that gives out the maps to the buyers for the Brooklyn Bridge and the road to Shangri-La?

If you ask me, none of the “news” channels are actually news channels. They’re opinion fountains…Why isn’t there a BBC style media in the US? You, know, just report the news from around the world, and not just stories that relate to the US, either. Actual news reporting, about everything, including, “gasp!” science….. Is that really so much to ask?….

The “Fear mongering booth” would have been too true for the comics page.

Talk about up-to-the-minute, late-breaking comics.Wiley could’ve done this one about Rick Santorum yesterday! (Re: Santorum’s re-writing JFK’s speech about the Pope’s influence in a JFK presidency. It had nothing to do with what Santorum claimed.)

I think the News booth should be divided into “Horse Race” and “Substantive Analysis of the Issues,” with the former being about 100 times larger.

Try CBC for a change. How about reading Al Jazeera? There is a wealth of good reporting out there, but unfortunately we are attracted to the glitz and glamor. The louder they scream, the closer we listen….

Lame, I was talking about access to news from around the world. Americans just don’t get any, unless it’s somehow about the US. Although the BBC does sometimes editorialize, when the report the news it’s just that, nothing more. Who, what, where, when and how. Evidently Americans only care about themselves.

“Politics isn’t really my field of expertise”… no reason to let that stop you from expounding on it. Have you ever read political forums?

Well said. I would like to add that NPR is NOT run by the government. They receive less than half their funding from the government and the rest from grants and listener support. They are run by an indpendent board which is one big reason Republican members of Congress have been trying to shut it down for all these years. They are independent and do not bow down to anyone (although the point is well taken that they do seem to be leaning to the right more lately).

I gotta say I DID work for ONE editor with guts. At a bilingual radio station during la Huelga. God bless you, old JeremyMyro el Magnifico…

This signifies what is happening in Afghanistan presently, feigned outrage over burning of the Koran so they can attack westerners.

Both parties love to publish wild stories about their opponents, and ignore essential facts. That’s been the strategy in politics for more than 100 years.

The reality is that phony outrage, SELLS MORE! It doesn’t have to be factual, as long is it is ANGRY! The swing “right” to religious fundamentalism, OF ALL TYPES, has made “hate” even more marketable. (and oppressive, world-wide)

Okay. Now that everyone has fired themself up with all the rhetoric, why don’t you all try something new? Why don’t you get up out of your chair, go out into the real world and do something about it?Or you could just appoint me God and I’ll fix it.Nevermind. I don’t care either way. I’ll just go take a nap.
