    Yeah, the group that receives over $6 billion of our tax dollars, but pays no taxes in return. They need that money to defend against all the child abuse lawsuits, and pay for Viagra, but can’t pay for women’s health. Of course, 98% of American Catholic women have used birth control….

    I’m sure they’re tossing that issue around with a method of rhythm.

    There are make-work jobs and there are wealth-producing jobs..Government can only produce the make-wok kind of jobs, at the expanse of the wealth-producing jobs, that pay for the government’s existence.

    I can never remember how to spell rhythm, which, apparently neither can Roman Catholics, as it’s really called “parenthood”.

    Peter, you’re full of it. I was raised in a family supported on a good government job, and it’s a better job than I could ever get in the private sector.

    But when someone supports their right to choose they get all up in the air about people messing with their religion that they don’t agree in the first place. Yeah, that makes sense.

    Clown: you might review Cheney and "W"’s declarations for the “unitary presidency” when it comes to seeking a dictatorship.

    I’d like to point out that “And for the hundreds time you ignorant libs.” isn’t a sentence, and doesn’t mean anything. Your ignorance is revealed. Also, this insistence of you lap dog tools of the corporate plutocracy on using the word “lib” or “libs” is just too silly. Let me spell it for you; It’s LIBERAL or LIBERALS and it implies an intelligence that can deal with complex issues in a complex manner, rather than relying on simple answers, and a simple minded, selfish, mean spirited approach to citizenship that has come to call itself “Conservatism”. You all are just throw backs to a pre-civilized consciousness that led us into the dark ages.

    Go man, go! I agree. I think the Flying Spaghetti Monster is FOR contraception, so he should demand equal time.

    It’s vital to the Republicans to ban all contraception. That way there will be far more abortions.

    Really? This isn’t about what churches are allowed to do, its about large church owned corporations that take federal money. If a church owned corporation takes federal tax dollars, they’ve got to abide by federal employment law. To do anything would be chaos. So in your world, people who work at a large business owned by Jehova’s Witnesses should be allowed to deny their employees coverage of blood transfusions? And they can’t have operations that involve blood either? Does that make sense?

    I wish some of the comments on this strip made sense. And I wish people would proof-read what they just wrote before submitting it..

    @petergirt

    the vast majority of americans need jobs. while the government is not the only entity that can make jobs, it is a big one; and those jobs are both for making essential work and making weatlh.

    . Government builds roads (and infrastructure) this work is contracted out to businesses. the people that actually build the roads get work. the companies that hire them, if they are run well make wealth. This infrastructure is necessary in order for all the other wealthmakers to utilize to make their wealth. So the government makes work AND wealth (in this example

    same is true of building schools and other public facilities.

    one place where the government builds only wealth, is when congressman use their insider knowledge to do insider trading (totally legal for them, not for us).

    another place is lobbying or influence peddling, where the congressman make wealth for their lobbyists (constiuents?) by selling their influence. thus making themselves and their lobbyists wealthy, but creating no jobs.

    which is better for the economy? which is ethical?

    Whenever someone attacks government spending – government job creation, the Big Government-lovers bring up the military, the infrastructure, the firefighters and other LEGITIMATE AND ESSENTIAL AND INDISPENSABLE ROLES OF a government..Regardless of what government does, it needs taxes to finance its operations and they can only come from the private, wealth producing economy..Yes I know, Government employees pay taxes as well, although it would appear that there are more delinquent tax-payers in the Government than in the general population, but those funds are merely churning of the tax dollars . . . . it’s a matter of simple arithmetic.
