This was certainly the norm when I was in school. I don’t know anyone who got double punishment., though. The school issued punishment (detention/extra homework) + a stern talking to, yes. Double punishment: no.
OK, the kid is being sent to his room to wait for his dad. Mom is not punishing him, she is merely sending him to his room with his books, computer, cell phone video games, dvds, and so on. Wow, you mean the kid might get a spanking? Good, more kids and a lot of adults need a spanking every now and then. This is not child abuse, this is what you get for misbehavior. Maybr if we had more discipline, IE, Punishment, we would not have the troubles we have today.
Send him up to his room…after you take away the power cords for the TV, computer, Xbox, etc. — and confiscate the cell phone and iPad. Otherwise, what’s the point?
All that electronics in their room? Taken care of by the Internet – activate the firewall in your router to block them; login to your phone carrier and turn their phone off.
@psychladyThat’s not always true. Some kids behave themselves when at home, but they turn into trouble makers when out of their parents’ sight. I’ve seen it enough when I was a kid. The usual reaction is “But he’s never any trouble at home.” Yeah, because he/she knows what will happen when in your sight. They play goody-two-shoes so you think they are good kids, but out of your sight, it’s a different story. I would disassociate myself from them so I wouldn’t get in trouble.
Well, this one certainly brings back unpleasant memories of a childhood I’d much rather forget. “Just wait until your dad gets home!” had to have been one of my mother’s favorite mantras back then.

Kids are like elephants, they NEVER forget! When he gets older he will hold the grandkids hostage from the grandparents.
