You may “somehat resent” that common misconception, but I thoroughly resent it. I worked all hours of the day,sometimes without pay, to keep the public safe and yes, to save the taxpayer money.
Also didn’t get any “OT”, and put in lots of hours, some hanging out on cliffs on rescues, or on fire lines. The “stay put” policy is an intelligent one in urban areas that now panic at the first snowflake. I actually see this as another evidence of how weakened the “American will” is after a few decades of spoiled brat indulgence, where “risk”, “fear”, and “terror” have become the driving force in politics and life. From snowflakes to Salmonella, to Somalia, EVERY American is to live in fear, and vote “conservative”. Thirty years of morons have washed the national brain of any willpower or intellect. In fact, as proven here often, “intellect” is the most feared element of all!!!

“We need more parties but they aren’t allowed” There is a way out: Take 50 Senate Seats and distribute them to All the National Parties based on Registered Voter proportions. Now, Progressives, Independents, Libertarians, Tea, Elitist, Socialist, Conservative, Liberal etc. can be at the table. As in New England, they can vote D or R in Local Primaries. National Democrat and Republican parties can return to being mainstream. If senate leaders are Not Successful At Compromise they will be Replaced.
Sometimes, making the whole class stay in during recess because some students misbehave is unfair. But, it does get results. I know I will offend several people here. This is Tough Love: This is the Second Great Depression. Govt Employees at Full Salary Are NOT Working Together. Let’s Cut All Salarys so they can Feel Our Pain: 20% and cut the work-week to 4-days; UNTIL the Budget is Balanced. Now Everyone is motivated to Use Our Tax $ WISELY.
