Why would you chop wood when you have nowood stove in the house?

Maybe not from chopping wood, but when you get the gas bill, Earl.

Put on a sweater, Earl. Or would that make sense? My father used to run around in shorts and a sleeveless T-shirt and complain he was cold. Put something on!

I have to go along with Earl on this one.

Plus I’m guessing they don’t have a fireplace.

Earl, Opal’s sorta meaning is just don’t sit around do something. Or dress in layers.

This is so backwards! It’s always the women who are complaining that they are cold!

Chopin wood will warm you at least once. Who says you have to burn it?

Earl is getting a virus and is going to end up in bed with a fever for a few days. Now comes an episode of Opal reluctantly waiting on him.

Old people get cold because of their circulation. My 90+ dad complains of being cold in the horrible heat & humidity of an Oklahoma summer.

With the price of oil today, put on another sweater – or a jacket!

I’ve always had an aversion to cold. I’d prefer to spend the money on heat rather than putting on more layers of clothing that restrict movement. I most comfortable when wearing only one layer.

Just turn the heat up Opal.. Or he’ll be moaning for the rest of the day.

Makes me glad that I’m at the age where I’m a human furnace (I’m comfortable at 70, and the rest of the household insists on 76).

It’s good advice! Reminds me of the guy who went to the store to buy a snowblower and saw the price tag of $1,000. Then he figured he should get some exercise so he looked around and saw the treadmills at $1,500. Then he decided to buy a shovel for $20 and get the best of both worlds. ;-)

Opal and Earl have become the story of my life. Scary isn’t it.

It does seem backwards! It’s usually the woman complaining she’s cold and the man refusing to turn up the thermostat bc it’ll increase the heating bill
