First responder survivors are dying of the aftereffects of being there, and all they get is “no” votes on coverage and endless “Noun-verb-9/11”. Flying a flag a few days a year doesn’t make you a patriot.
@ PP: Are you delusional? Who would ever want that to happen again? Who has ever said that, even obliquely? You are not only divisive, but really off-base.
The cartoon has a lovely tear-jerking quality, but it ignores the complexities of September 11th. The U.S.A. was complicit in the results of that dreadful attack, and, worse, the U.S.A. has practiced terrible attacks, too.
None of that justifies the acts of al-Qaeda, but no one should portray Americans as solely the victims.
“The divisiveness is there my friend and ignoring it won’t stop its venomous advance. If your ears are open you will see it too.”Of course it’s here. You are helping to spread it with your comments.
Doc – I wouldn’t say you root for it, but you certainly wouldn’t mind it. People of your ilk are kinds who, less than 24 hours after the towers fell, put an application into the City of San Francisco for a protest against retaliation.
.
The dust and smoke hadn’t even cleared and you kind was protesting against retaliation. To a true American, that’s aiding the enemy, pure and simple…
The military retaliation of the wars resulted in somewhere around 240,000 dead, mostly innocents (the sorrow of eighty 9/11’s) ; around 6,000 U.S. soldiers killed; multitudes more people injured, maimed, and dying from malnutrition or lack of treatment; estimated 7.8 million refugees; and an economically weakened America. And what’s to show? Mostly the world being a more dangerous place with Iran the main benefactor of a weakened Iraq.Maybe there was a better way.
rudy ghouliani was indeed a fake hero in this. No hero at all. In fact the only thing he did that was remotely decent was to rip up the check the saudi prince gave the city because it came with strings attached that it was partially our fault.
Bush seized the opportunity, happy it wasn’t his constituency that got bombed.
does anyone remember that awful televised 3 way conversation that looked like something out of ‘i love lucy’?
Doc, thank you. I too flew my flag, until some moron invaded Iraq. I refused to fly it upside down (as appropriate) or when it would be used as a misplaced support for a continuing tragedy.
The TRUE patriot, and lover of country will fight for it when demanded, and criticize when it errs. Submitting to those who subjugate us is NOT patriotic. Corporations are NOT “PEOPLE”, and it is time for ALL Americans, North AND South, to realize our continents are linked by a narrow thread, and our tenuous thread of cooperation and growth for all, is indeed fragile! Our ties to Europe and Africa are as much genetic as political and economic. To Asia we owe much as well. It is a WORLD community, and despite our individual needs and goals, if ALL do not survive and prosper, we ALL lose!
grayhaired, the entire population of the USA and especially our leaders are complicit in the attack on the twin towers. I live 1/2 mile from the site and i choked on the fumes of the smoldering remains for over 3 months as bush’s adminstrator of the EPA repeatedly swore that there was no danger in the fumes.
everytime i see an image of a fellow citizen jumping from the towers, in that, i see the fight against green energy, the incredible waste of energy in nyc buildings (we open windows when it’s 20 degrees out because it’s 90 degrees in side).
every time you put gasoline in your tank.every time you you turn the thermostat up in the winter or down in the summerevery time you support the incredible government subsidies of oil and natural gas
We are sending money DIRECTLY to the people who attacked us, quite successfully.
We are sending support for the oppressive governments of OPEC (and others).
so while the acts against the twin towers, and countless others over the decades, from your sainted ronald regan though the present are outrageous and unjustifiable,
so is the fact that WE the people fund them directly.
what’s a crock, that we, as a nation waste energy?that the dollars we spend on oil go directly to oppressive regiemes that are, shall we say, unfriendly to us?the our national direction/policy is to continue this insanity?that we’ve been under attack since before ronnie raygun’s debacle in lebannon?

What I am concerned about is the fact your comment isn’t that subtle and is sowing seeds of suspicion, precisely being divisive.

You couldn’t help but notice? Really? You …..have a powerful grasp of the blatantly obvious. omQ R is correct. By saying that you are being divisive.

The body of the Chaplain was the first recovered from the site. It just makes me think, “who’s side”?
Maybe “arrogance” combined with “ONLY I am right”, should be the real enemy?

Contact congress and tell them to help the first responders, the real heros of 9-11

They did squeeze every rating and vote out of the tragedy. That ’s what politicians do in this day and age.
And truthers squeezed every YouTube view out of both Iraq and 9/11, used it as a shortcut to internet fame.
