    But Tarantulas generally move very slowly and, most of the time, they don’t seem to mind being handled much. I’ve seen them used for this very purpose.

    The SoCal tarantula’s bite isn’t poisonous to humans unless you’re allergic, but it’s as big as a mouse so it’ll still hurt. Luckily, they’re pretty mellow.

    Can’t say they move slowly, or are mellow… A nature program on TV about tarantulas showed a male trying to court a female who was in her den…. The female wasn’t interested… TV couldn’t keep up with blur of action as she launched an attack, they fought – 16 legged blur – male quickly lost – female had dinner.
