Cilantro smells fine, but it tastes like soap..And before people get in a huff about it, there is a well known genetic glitch that causes some people to taste cilantro as soapy. I’m one of them. Before I learned about it I used to wonder if the restaurant had rinsed the salsa bowl after they washed it.
Yeah, I’m a supertaster for grapefruit. White grapefruit is the most horrible thing ever. Pink better be drowned in sugar or corn syrup if it’s juice. Strangely, I really like broccoli, which most supertasters can’t stand.The Little Dog really needs to learn that you can’t be friends with everyone. Well, maybe you can if you’re a dog. But that’s more of a golden retriever thing to do. Bassets are more of a “I’m just gonna lie here and someone will eventually rub my belly!” dog.

Why don’t restaurant always warn of the “Soap Meets Parsley” herb’s presence???So sad when an otherwise good Mexican place has only cilantro laced salsa; I won’t be back.Same when Asian places cannot get the cilantro out of their supposedly “fresh” preparations.I think the percentage of cilantro phobes is high enough that they are turning away potential money for that herb!
I am one of those that loves cilantro and always have it in my refrigerator, but do know that you either like it or hate it. If you do not like it watch out for coriander, because it is the same thing.
Are you talking about coriander, the spice, which is made from ground seeds? Let those seeds grow, and the leafy green stuff that comes up is, yep, cilantro. Same thing – I’ve grown cilantro myself by planting coriander seeds.

Hope the cilantro farmers aren’t in danger. I hate the stuff, but enough people like it to keep them going… just keep it away from my food!

I love fresh cilantro and parsley. Grow both every year. Load my salads with them and fresh basil leaves.

Steve,Thank you for the stinkbug scenarios.We had quite an infestation of them and for me they are most good natured and likable — no fooling.
Yes I appreciate the problem they are for fruit growers and vineyards.
For me, I like them.

Are there REALLY cilantro farmers, or does the Highway Department just mow it out of the ditches?
