This perfectly illustrates the “shrinking of government” when “W” created THIRTY THREE (33) new departments and directorships to form “Homeland Security”. But the “Department of Oxymorons” belonged to Karl Rove and was housed at AEI.

Haven’t we had enough already, of generic snipes at the U.S. Government? A disgusting but noticeable portion of the U.S. electorate actually believes government serves no useful purpose. Their evidence is little more than snipes like this.

I am glad the govenment is inefficient. Just think how much damage they could do if they had their act together.

Stay Calm- brings up a valid point. Having seen from inside and outside how “government” works for or against “the PEOPLE”- a recent list from Cato Institute, Heritage, and the TEA party, and “Republican” types calls to eliminate most of the agencies that DO serve the public, and add to the waste of those that don’t. “Homeland Security” has become the most expensive, and useless mix of confused regulations, laws and spending for no gain in history. Resource agencies that regulate the use of our most valuable resources, and return the greatest benefit to America, and could provide MORE if not giving those resources away to industry, are instead intended to disappear so “industry” can totally lay waste to America, for THEIR PROFIT! Stupid is the name of the game, and TEA is its drug of choice.

Senex, …Its off-white greyish gates are guarded by more than just politicians. There is bureaucracy there that does not sleep. The great eye of the lobbyist is ever watchful. It is a barren wasteland, riddled with fire, ash, dust, and paper jams. The very air you breathe is a poisonous fume of hot air. Not with ten thousand political satirists could you do this. It is folly.

I was in management in private industry for a total of 20 years. You wouldn’t believe the inefficiencies and losses that go on. Actually more than I have seen when I’ve worked in the public sector. Organizations are all the same. Some have better management, but the larger it is, the harder it is to make it work efficiently.

“Actually, ANY organization that gets big enuf has inefficiencies — government, churches, unions, corporations, military, universities, movie productions, charities, you name it. I think there’s a law of physics involved, somewhere around the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics.”And then there’s Parkinson’s Law, which originally suggested that the number of bureaucrats in any bureaucracy rose by 5-7% per year “irrespective of any variation in the amount of work (if any) to be done.”

pouncingtiger, the debt plan was and is very liberal. How you managed to put Tea Party members in the picture is absurd. If the Tea Party had their way, the debt ceiling wouldn’t have been raised and little Obama would have to start paying his massive, massive bills, which he stated he would accomplish by the end of his term. Is that going to happen? Any bets?
