    Wow, Ann Eiffel’s chat with Brad went on for longer than some tv shows without commercials that is and judging by Brad’s less than defensive stance regarding the issue of Toni stopping to visit (which he should have challenged seeing as Frank is) she must have done most, if not all, of the talking. I can’t help picturing this meeting involving Ann either talking in slow motion or that she started drawing diagrams and charts on the horrors of time wasting.

    Putting it out there: Brad reports Ann; she’s fired for inappropriate behaviour. They look at his curriculum vitae and decide he’s ideal management material and he gets her job…

    As for Brad not standing up to Ann; he may be hesitant after losing his dream job recently. We know he didn’t do anything wrong but it must have still been a blow. He could be feeling any job better than no job. hugs

    Well, I meant he’d need someone who was there when Ann told him Toni wasn’t allowed into WeeineWorld. Besides, I’m not really sure that her harassment’s even on her record since she was transferred rather than fired for what she did. And even though Bernice and Zane could vouch for her being a bad person they weren’t there when Ann said those things to Brad. (Though I must admit I’d like it if they tried since Zane is a really great character who should definitely return).

    I’m looking forward to when he does report that witch. I’ve had co-workers that act like Eiffel sometimes, and I typically end up telling them to back off when they go into what I call “bully” mode.

    I don’t like the way Ann’s treating Brad: Making him tell Toni not to comeback to WeenieWorld because she “wastes” his time. Why can’t Brad just stand up to Ann and say no, albeit getting himself fired in the process?

    Brad was laid off….not fired. In the real world he is re-hired before anyone else is hired. SO, when is this going to happen? Not too soon for me. You build him up and now tear him down?

    I had a boss that behaved like the Eiffel character. I was 19 and she was in her mid 30s and she thought she was hot and would brag about her Nissan Maxima and how much it cost and how she was the youngest store manager in the company (hey, it was 1990 retail; the management needed SOMETHING to lift them up out of the mire of their daily lives). Long story short… I dealt with her, moved on and am now working in my dream job of helping small businesses and their owners and she’s more than likely still working retail.

    Frank doesn’t seem too upset yet. It seems more like he’s commiserating with his son over tyrannical micro-managers. It will probably be Nancy Degroot who throws a fit over Brad not being able to talk to his “close friend” at work and the undeniably evil Ann “Eyeful” hitting on her precious little boy. Dad’s probably not going to be swayed very much by Ann’s attempts to hit on Brad. He’ll be there for Brad to joke with about crazy, annoying bosses.

    That intrusive need to control workers’ lives – and by extension, their productivity – isn’t new. Henry Ford had a goon squad that used to force their way into his workers’ houses – many of which he owned – and break all their liquor bottles. This was PRIOR to Prohibition, too. He figured if they drank, even on their own time, they were cheating him by not being at peak performance on the line.

    The smoking issue is slightly different – because of all the health issues associated with it, companies feel you’re driving up their health premiums, and the CEO will be damned if your silly little right to pursue happiness gets in the way of his collecting even more in his annual bonus.
