That’s Boy Scouts. Cub Scout motto is “Do Your Best”.

This is why when I order my kits I always get the Super Duper Fast Setting Glue from Acme Rocket, Missiles and Space Stuff.

This is why the Soviets declared the “era of the Soyuz”; way to go scouts!

I was in the hobby shop with my kids the other day and EVERY STINKIN’ rocket kit they had was ‘pre-assembled’. I’m telling you, that’s just WRONG. Tear open a box and shoot a rocket you have NO time and attention in? Phooey.

Rule #3 – ensure your rocket has fuel.

Duct Tape! The Handyman’s Every Tool! Greg – if you haven’t yet – try to watch the Red Green Show. A very Canadian half hour show. It did run on PBS for a few years. Still shows up on some of the Comedy Network channels. Its the reason I now carry duct tape.

We had one Cub Scout shoot a two-stage rocket last year. They brought two one-stage rockets this year, and no one else was brave enough or rich enough to invest time and money into a two-stage this year.

Kits? Kids today have it too easy. Whatever happened to making them from cork, paper, tagboard, plastic grocery bags, thread, rubberbands, and straws? My dad even showed us how to make rocket fuel cartridges out of lawn fertilizer and sugar, but it wasn’t as good as the hobby store stuff and occasionally blew your rocket into shower of confetti.

Thanks, Leon! I’m happy to be here. Boots, I built a kitchen-trash rocket two years ago to show the kids it could be done. I’m happy to report that it still exists. ‘course, it’s probably still around because it doesn’t fly as high as the “store-boughten” ones, but by golly, it flies, and it lands with its grocery store plastic bag parachute.
