Gmartin997 You have it right. Hollywood has been recycling a lot of old movies lately as remakes with a current cast. It’s good to hear many a waking up to the need for real reuse of material around the country from the other comments.
It took the New Yorker, Woody Allen, to come up with a pretty original movie. His latest is Midnight in Paris and while it may have some famiar themes, Woody manages to put his own stamp on it and make it good.
Amen. That is exactly what Hollywood pumps out. GARBAGE! Why every movie has to have foul language or nudity or promote homosexuality or all of the above is puzzling. That’s why I haven’t been in a theater for a adult movie in many years.
Why are you name calling? Just because you disagree with someone’s comments or opinions does not make them evil, nor does it entitle you, or anyone else, to resort to gratuitous insults. There are proper limits for free speech; you might try using them.
This is all why I find it best to watch childrens/ Disney movies along with animated movies like Ice age, Wall-EE etc. Also 1970 and 80s TV etc. Of course it’s all personal interest but they do seem to have run out of ideas and sometimes portray a little too much reality. There is quite a bit that still is good that comes from California but even Disney is doing alot of remakes.
Reese Witherspoon recently received an achievement from MTV and, in that forum, lamented that you used to find fame in something other than reality shows and that , when she started, if you had a sex tape, you hid it under the bed, not broadcast it everywhere. And the MTV crowd applauded. It’s getting bad when an MYV crowd actually realizes how immoral things are.
Realize that summer movies in particular are aimed at 18-25 year olds and almost all ad revenue on TV is seen as being generated by them, so a remake of a 10 year old movie or show will be seen as new to the entertainment illiterate. So shows you see as recycled are new to them, in Hollywood theory. Don’t forget, these are the guys who ran a Black version of the odd couple using EXACTLY THE SAME SCRIPTS, figuring black audiences would never know the diff. Ron Glass may still be apologizing to tony Randall’s ghost.
I’m probably “old-fashioned” but I don’t understand why a perfectly good movie has to be peppered with the “F” word for no apparent reason. I understand there are places where it makes the comment more effective, but the word loses its effect when used in place of “um”, or “like”.

They’ve been recycling into the movies since at least the 80’s. They started on the television shows in the 90’s

What will Hollywood do for ideas when it finally runs out of old sitcoms and comic book superheroes?

That about sums up the last year of movies. And the year before. And the year before that…

Definitely no original thought going into the new movies; they are either reruns of old movies or too stupid to believe.
