All you have to do is hold down the alt key and press 1 2 3 etc. alt-13=♪ and alt-14 = ♫. alt-1 = ☺, alt-2 = ☻, all the way to alt-255 which is  a space an my computer. Try it – it’s fun. ♂

Even easier if you’re using windows is use the character map which is in the accessories and then system tools folders. Even easier than that is once you’ve realized you’re going to use the unicode characters, make a “text” file (I used the notepad and saved it as a unicode text file) of them and keep it handy to copy and paste frequently used characters into your comments. Such a file is where I copied (from) and pasted (here) the ‘no break space’ that allows me to have blank lines. Characters besides ♫ that show up in Rose is Rose include ♥ and maybe a sun ☼. There’s also really useful things like 70°F ← the degree symbol used there where I typed the current temperature here in Indiana.

    Frogman – there are a few more then that … adding “0” in front changes it … for example ATL-233 = Ú, ALT-0233 = é Alt-0174 = ®, Alt-174 = «

If you’re using the ALT+# keys, it has to be done on the numeric keypad, not the numbers above the letters on your keyboard. Many laptops/netbooks don’t have a separate keypad. Just a 411! ☺

Stands to reason that a man who gives bad haircuts will also give a bad pruning.
