NoFearPup–Hobbes is actually stuffed, correct. However to Calvin he is real and has all the character that Calvin himself has. So in any scene where it is just the two of them, Hobbes is “alive” and has lots to say and do.
attyush says: awww…that’s not fair hobbes. you need to play by the rules. How’s about bend the rules a little bit. Oooooh, I dare pounding on the stuffed tiger for being a smart leck!
I watch my grand-daughter who’s 2 1/2 years old with her Care Bear. She talks back and argues with Harmony all the time. She only does one side of the conversation so it gets confusing for the observer. She’s definitely in charge though because when the bear is bad it get’s a time-out.
Y’know, as a kid, I remember plugging my ears & singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” when I didn’t want to hear someone. I know this comic by heart. I’m a hybrid of Calvin & Susie. In school, I had much of Calvin’s personality yet I also could be good & studious like Susies (and just as sardonic).

Why should your imagination tell you the truth all the time? Isn’t it a bit too much to expect from our subconscious?

I guess it just depends on who you are. I trust my mental insanity.
