    Welcome, everybody…..

I’m here at Julia and Marshall’s house, helping them get ready for us to gather here and post our comments for ….

the July 12th  2018 “CLEO and COMPANY”

I showed them how to find it on Sherpa:

    http://www.comicssherpa.com/site/feature?uc_comic=cscwy

    And you can too!

I’ve been wondering what the heck Julia was doing with that notepad.

And now I wonder what she’s talking about.

I know I  didn’t help put together any sort of appraisal.

And I’m pretty sure she doesn’t mean Bixby, the dog, helped her. I didn’t see him take any interest at all, except for in the cold cut platter.

Soaking of which… she wouldn’t be appraising their own food or decor, would she?

Cos they really did a lot of work..

Cold cuts, cheese, bread, and all sorts of sandwich extras… Fruit salad… deviled eggs…. cupcakes, beverages,

It’s like a whole dinner, with pretty plates, and fresh flowers in all the vases.

All I did was help set a serving table, and they didn’t really need me at all.

It’s beautiful… But I hope is not cos they’re rating themselves every time they entertain.

    Oh!

Are she and Marshall planning to appraise our performances in commenting on Cleo?

    Gosh, I hope not!

That’s not in the spirit of this group.

    Say… Julia…. ?

Susan has it exactly right. Who, or what, is Julia appraising? Or does she mean they put together a performance appraisal form, or template? I know we’re in for a rough patch if I am the one whose performance is being appraised.

As for the Cliffords: It ever was, and ever will be, thus.

Claude has those sounds burned into his, brain, as do many of us. Good rendition, Claude!

Yesterday Rotifer said he has been in court. Was he charged with disturbing the peace with egregious puns? Corrupting the morals of an elder? Slander against a comic artist? Cheating on “Find the differences” puzzles? IMWTK.

I find these times stranger than those times. Nice touch with Cleo sniffing Billy’s cup.

Gosh… Clara and Claude were more ahead of the game than I thought.

I didn’t have a modem that could go online until 1999, a year after them.

DSL was late to my neighborhood… I finally got to sign up in 2006…. only 12 years ago….

It was very slow, compared to what other parts of town could get….

but at least I didn’t have to listen to the screeches and howls of connecting via dial-up.

Hmmm …. maybe Nighthawks was trying not to spoil future re-run potential, by making the past too recent.

I mean, when this strip is rerun (again) in 2022, “20 years ago” will be 2002…

When I still had four years of dial-up ahead of me.

    1998.

It sounds recent, to me…. but I still had a very used 386 computer, running Windows 3.1…

The next year I got Windows 98, and the internet on a 56K modem….. but my first cell phone wouldn’t arrive for almost another 10 years.

I do know I was behind the curve…. but it all sounds positively ancient!

    Oh…. and Liverlips… don’t worry…. I’m sure you’ll do fine…

IF that’s what it’s about. And I hope not.

I am so lazy that I’m not posting new strips these days (when the viewership is much much lower than when sherpa was combined with go comics)

as I’ve said, I HAVE been producing new strips and animations, but I’m not running them until the

merger promised for this year by go comics…..

if you look at the other sherpa strips very few are pumping out new strips and most simply quit posting altogether.

    sorry!

We got our first computer in 1993. It was a one-piece thing, with a 5 inch screen. No internet connection for several years. And yes, Claude had the screeching down pat!!!

It’s amazing to see how fast our grandkids learn all about the internet and cell phones. Even the youngest ones! They help me with my iPad all the time.

And by the way……..what is that white thing Claude is holding?

Those were strange times but they brought us to where we are now – for better or worse.
