For those of you still counting here’s the solution to today’s Cleo & Co. puzzle. I should warn you it’s not quite the same as the previous incarnation, I’m going to post both so you can find the difference between the puzzles.

I just had to peak at today’s puzzle. No time to find my 9 or 10 or 11 differences.

Also, to salute any of our Wonderful Veterans in the audience today. It is an honor to salute those who provide us with FREEDOM!

I’ll be back later. Happy Trails.

Only found 9. I looked at the X_Tech’s solutions. The puzzle I saw didn’t have any dots on Cleo’s face. I’m confused, to say the least!

That was fun Nighthawks! I only saw 8. The one I missed was quite easy, I’m ashamed to say! As always, thanks to Susan and x for making the solution easy to work with and check.

Just because there’s is some confusion…….

First………. X posted TWO solutions…. almost, but not exactly alike.

The first is for today’s puzzle,

The second is the one he posted when this puzzle ran last September…

It was a teeny bit different.

If you look at the links, you’ll see the dates at the ends, but he didn’t write them in the same order…

The first one says 2017 11 11 (today)

    The second one says 09 24 16 (Sept 24, 2016)

Comparing the two puzzles is like another puzzle in itself,

just to see whether you can find what Nighthawks changed between the two.

The next part of this comment contains micro spoilers…

But even so, I’m not telling any answers….

If you want help with THOSE, they’re already in x_Tech’s gifs.

I’m only helping with the count…

If you don’t want to know yet, stop reading.

    Okay?

Last September’s puzzle says nine differences, but really contains ten or eleven,

depending on how you label one of them, which you could possibly count as two.

For this rerun, one tiny difference has been removed from the September puzzle….

That’s the only difference I could find between the two puzzles….

except that, as far as I can tell, the possibly “double” difference has already been counted as two.

The upshot is, the newer puzzle, labelled TEN differences, actually has nine, depending on how you count,

And it also has one (tiny) difference FEWER than the older one, labelled NINE differences.

(Cleo and Company special arithmetic… Ten is less than nine!)

    And… slightly bigger spoiler …

I think one of you already found it.

    Very clear…. right?

    Um…. Right?

    That’s funny….

I posted my comment, then Mabrndt posted his, only I hadn’t seen it,

when I deleted mine to fix something, and reposted it…

After his, and after Montana Lady replied to me… I think.

    Oops.

    Mabrndt… I always enjoy your investigative approach…

    like your research on paintings.

But you know, Nighthawks isn’t a professional puzzle maker, he’s a cartoonist,

just trying to give us a little fun while we wait for Sherpa to join GoComics.

So yeah, he occasionally makes mistakes in the count, or counts something differently one time from how he did it another.

It’s fun anyway, and the lore of the crazy counts has even become some of the amusement…

    (Er…. sorry Nighthawks.)

As a matter of fact, I find mistakes and misspellings in a lot of published puzzle books, too.

And now, I just had to delete this, and repaste it to fixa typo …

Good thing I copy before I post.

But with MY luck, somebody already replied to they one, too…. Sigh…..

@SusanSunshine:Actually, when I posted, Perkycat‘s was the last one. I’m not sure how these got so much out of order. Had your’s been there, I, of course, wouldn’t have said anything. Every time I do, I seem to get a rebuke from you for reasons that escape me. So, I deleted my comment.

Mabrndt… Yes, the comment order was like a game of musical chairs!

I posted, apparently while you were typing….. and immediately deleted to fix a error.

You posted while I did that.

So when I REposted, your comment was ahead of mine, and neither of us knew, when we submitted them, that the other had said some of the same things.

I thought it was ok to leave both, though.

I’m sorry if you think my next comment is a “rebuke.”

It isn’t meant to be… anybody can read it, because I haven’t deleted it, and see that it’s an explanation of how I feel, and no unkind words about you.

It’s in response, however, to some much harsher words you had for Nighthawks’ puzzle.

I defend my friends… if someone said the same sort of things about something YOU did, I would defend YOU…. and have, in fact.

But not with rebuke. Or at least, I try to be kind. If I failed, I’m truly sorry.

But honestly, if you’re going to be so critical, and maybe hurt someone else’s feelings, you can expect some people to disagree, and offer a different opinion.

I just “unliked” my “like” on the last two posts of Mabrant and Susan. It’s not that I unliked ANYTHING they said, I’m just sorry that there might have been some misunderstanding, and I didn’t think it was appropriate for me to “like” their comments. These are two fine people, and it’s good that they worked out any misunderstandings.
