For once, I agree with you Daniel. The only two ways to fix these balooning programs with the boomers generation now hitting retirement age is to either a) raise taxes (boo) or b) reduce benefits. Seeing as none of these programs were designed to be as large as they are, I’m all for option b. But, that itself carries consequences that if left untreated will become serious issues.
What kind of mess has this country (both sides of the aisle) gotten itself into?

At least, it was until Reagan doubled the FICA tax. Then it became an issue again when we started putting the funds from FICA into the general fund.
