GC seems to turn the Sherpa comics before the rest, So when I am waiting for the turn, I can often find your strip first.

Much to Mr. Morrisey’s surprise Ginger is about to revel the truth about the Carlisles (see yesteday) late night backyard activities. Ginger know that is so revolting as to drive everyone from the room thus leaving her with full access to the buffet.

Obviously, everyone is thinking about a different movie than what I’m thinking about.

    I remember that film.

    Haunting.

But if a slouching basset hound with a fedora pulled low over his eyes ever tries to sell you a “slightly used” pocket watch…..

take a good look at it first.

Meanwhile… hope everyone is all right….

The curling smoke in the poster reminds me….

You guys in all the wild fire smoke…. be careful….

    It must be really awful.

There’s so much in the air that we even got a couple of days of it (though nowhere near the same concentration) all the way down here, about 800 miles south of Seattle.

    Nighthawks… and I haven’t seen you here in a while….

    hope all is well.

    And Alexi…

As I understand it, they still use those other terms…

but “wild fire” is preferred where appropriate,

for one thing, because it’s the only one that means just that… an unplanned and uncontained fire, not a controlled burn, or a fire that may have started wild, but has been contained to a single type of terrain.

Also, practically speaking, a “wild fire” can start anywhere. They don’t want to keep relabeling it, or parts of it, if it moves from forest to farmland or brush…. or encompasses more than one area.

After it’s over, they may refer to it as a forest fire, or whatever it ended up having been.

Cleo, put that cigarette down!! And be very careful where you put it – we don’t need any more fires.

Excellent adaption of this poster. Love the movie.

I only just found this last night (suitable for Tuesday’s strip) — great comic artists thinking alike?

Very nice poster today! It’s been YEARS since I’ve seen the movie. Maybe it’s time to look for it.
