Believe me as a teacher. Ai is already making it go away… It much easier for students than “than the dog ate my homework.”

Being in the Ed Biz, I will contribute two observations:

    1) I know an art teacher who says many of his students are now using generative AIs to “write” their artist statements (paragraphs describing the purpose of the work and how well they thought they succeeded). They are easy to detect because the grammar is too good for this grade level, and it’s obvious that the writer never actually looked at the artwork.

    2) Assuming we still want people to learn how to write (vs. creating prompts for a generative AI), we will just have to make them write stuff out longhand, in class, with their phones and computers put away. Y’know, like we oldsters had to do. I don’t see a downside to this.

It’s simply the next step in dumbing down mankind in general. It is impossible for everyone to have exceptionally high intelligence/perception, however, it is extremely easy to get mankind to be equally dumb. js (what is extremely funny to me at this point is my AI is making suggestions on how I should rewrite this to be more “reader” friendly)
