Richard Parker, for the most part of Life of Pi, is described as a tiger sharing the lifeboat with the boy, Pi. At first their relationship is based on fear, but, as the tiger becomes dependent on Pi for food and water, it turns to compromise, with both giving a little to get a little.

Can’t say I’m a nerd but greatly enjoyed “Life of Pi”. Despite its hasty ending.

They’ll be impressed because, as everyone knows, lowly janitors are ignorant and illiterate high school dropouts.

And here I thought he named his cat after Spider-Man’s dad.

This arc has possibilities. Should be interesting.

Why is a Life of Pi reference funny or even clever?

Better than a parakeet I knew of back in the 50s named The Durango Kid.

I was going for the Richard Parker in Edgar Poe’s story The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket or the victim in the Mignonette’s shipwreck. The reference to Pi threw me out and I had to look it up.

Cool. I like Frazz’s (i take it anyway) Indian from India character, letting me know about something I did not have a clue about. “The Life of Pi” Thank you all. Frazz, Jef, and the unnamed young man.

That is a GREAT book, highly recommend it.

In general, cats are more like Richard (Stark’s) Parker.

“Life of PI” seems an older reference, now, but it checks out!
