Ideally, the best advice is “decide one way or another before doing anything, then sleep on that decision.”

I don’t foresee Gus saying “this is what you should do” – but I could be wrong.

“Look, Arlo. There are, potentially, many more possible story lines if you move down here. Those involving the kids, the grandkid, me… Not to mention the boat, and the sea. You have pretty much done where you live now. There is only so much mileage you can get out of talking to your cat, walking around the block, or dancing in the kitchen. On the other hand, the latter is just what your fans like most. Will they desert you if you move? And, of course, it is much more effort to write multiple, multi-week, story arcs than it is those dailies you mostly been doing lately!”

This strip is brilliant. We’ve all been there, mostly in the position of offering advice when someone is explaining a situation. Good listeners are rare gems.

Ugh, I couldn’t be with in 20 ft of someone smoking a cigar. It stinks up everything. I also could not stay in the condo of a smoker.

Well, I vote no! (But won’t stop reading the strip in either case).

Anytime someone says “I have a problem,” a man hears “Can you fix this?”

People always ask me for advice. They seldom take it. They ask for money too. No problem there.

I’m seeing a younger Jimmy Johnson speaking with present-day Jimmy. It’ll be interesting to see what is offered.

Kind of odd that Gus and Arlo have kids who are roughly the same age, yet Gus looks like Arlo’s dad.

I’m not sure what would keep them from moving. NONE OF JJ’s arcs cover any close friends, local relatives, hobbies (except gardening), fraternal organizations, business interests or political organizations. Other than the house itself there are no ties to the community where they live. Luddy will get over it and you can bet if a baby shows up they’ll be gone like a shot. For that matter Meg is a very good reason to move.

Don’t do it! We moved last year and it took 3 months.

I had to give up cigars for medical reasons. Did not smoke ’em often, but I enjoyed them, esp. with the maduro wrappers.

I think (possibly amongst others) that I like Gus. These comic characters are almost real people. I wonder what sort of seegars (stogies, cheroots, etc.) that Gus smokes.

We moved from our apartment to our house 40 years ago. The move was less half a mile. I still have things we have not unpacked since the move.

Husband talks about moving – to Lancaster, PA or to Williamsburg, VA or to Hagerstown, MD (between the other 2). I keep umhumming him – I really don’t want to move. Born on this Island and plan on staying on this Island permanently! (He was born here also.)
