    outwardly they seem harmless but perhaps that is what evil wants you to think. So you let your guard down.

    So, if you popped them like the pimples they resemble, would evil ooze out?

    Reminds me of an old saying you don’t hear much anymore: The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Sort of the opposite of these cute li’l guys.

    No, evil is definitely defined by actions. I don’t care if someone secretly hates Muslims while they’re donating to the Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund. :^(

    These guys look slightly familiar. Possible inspiration: the Matzoriley Brothers from the Inspector cartoons on The Pink Panther.

    I am the spirit that negates.

    And rightly so, for all that comes to be

    Deserves to perish wretchedly;

    ’Twere better nothing would begin.

    Thus everything that that your terms, sin,

    Destruction, evil represent—

    That is my proper element.

    Mephistopheles, “Faust” (Goethe, not Marlow)

    I wonder if Dana is a fan of Helen Narbon, the mad scientist who always wore a shirt bearing the word “Evil,” with a cute little heart dotting the “i”…

    I’ve imagined a superhero called Evil Man, who keeps doing the right things for the wrong reasons.

    These guys are interesting. One says: “Evil lives not in the actions, but in the heart.” But the other says: “Everything we do, we do with evil intent,” which contradicts the first, since doing anything is itself an action.

    These guys will bear watching. Can’t wait for them to meet Marigold.
