I dunno. We have enjoyed searching the lists for movies we enjoyed decades ago – for us that means most films from the mid-1900’s. As to the writers’ strike, where have they been up to now? Much of what currently passes for ‘writing’ seems to involve frenetic scene changes, destruction of all kinds, lots of gore, dialogue an elementary kid could do better, and characters so badly miscast as to be comical.
Unless you have Netflix or a large collection of films on computer… seeing a good film again is worth more than most of today’s crap (all those films based on Marvel comics etc…)
I don’t go to the movies (I wait until I can rent them at home) so my backlog goes back to the 1970’s. I also like to watch some of the classics like “Casablanca.”
As for TV, I used to watch college football when it wasn’t on pay for a streaming service to get it. My TV stays off most of the day.
I used to watch Jeopardy, but since they are now in production in spite of the strike, I’ll save my electrons for a more useful purpose. Maybe I’ll use them to mine Bitcoin.
Eventually, all the projects that the striking writers had finished working on will be available for public viewing. The true effect of the strike likely won’t be seen for months.
And Mr. Stahler brings up a good point. Why should we pay for entertainment? These people have no right to ask for better pay. We managed to starve musicians with Napster and now streaming services, why not starve writers, too?

Whereas I’m spending just as much time watching shows as I ever have: Very close to zero. (Yeah, everybody to their own flavors.)

It doesn’t matter who’s in it or what it’s about: it’s still a boob tube. Read a book.

I haven’t missed a thing. Stay on strike if you want. Makes no difference in my life.

Does anyone even care about the strike? We’ve noticed no change whatsoever in the garbage coming out of the TV.

And so are the writers.

I miss Seth Meyers and Stephen Colbert. Their monologues have brought a lot of relief to my political anxiety.

I’ve canceled all the premium channels on my programming subscription. They are pretty much all reruns anyway. Saving $$$$.

Now if Face Book and X would go on strike, we could be sociable again.
