Mom needs to get a life. She also needs to butt out. Poor Irving.

I was actually thinking “poor Cathy”. That kind of craziness would make me avoid Mom for a while… “um, I’m really busy at work” Irving at least had the choice to turn down the invitation to Thanksgiving dinner.

Well, Irving does “pan out” a bit later.

You get a clear sense that Cathy’s mom loves her and cares for her well being. But the bigger question we’re missing here is why Cathy needs a husband (or any other person) to be happy. Ugh.. be happy with yourself Cathy.

Cathy’s mother wants grandchildren and wants them now! So the best way to do that is to get Cathy happily married and settled down with someone (preferably Irving but at this point, just about anybody will do just so long as the union produces children!).

My mom used to tell me “you don’t need a man to be happy.” Then later she’d say “you’ll regret it for the rest of your life if you don’t have children.” Uh, mom, I don’t much like where this is going.
