Excitement can be a terrifying thing! Especially for cats like Sophie.

Poor Sophie

Aww, there’s always someone who doesn’t like excitement.

Aww, poor Sophie. I once had a cat .. yeah, we’ll go with cat because no one has proved that space aliens exist … who went into hiding when we moved house — spent 3 days under my CD rack.

My long ago cat Nadia hated moving. my Aunt came to help us once and she hissed at her. She knew what THOSE boxes were for. and she held a grudge against her for a year or two. She got over it when my Aunt came to feed her and change her box while I was away on a vacation though.

Hmm. I don’t think she would use the same word as Tommy.

Poor Sophie, all that hustle and bustle gets scary. Time to hide!

Poor Sophia. Maybe Puck can help her. He doesn’t like new places, either.

I’m grateful that my sweet Whiskers boy adjusted to change very well! We adopted him when he was about 8 weeks old and he passed away when he was 15 years, and during that time we moved residences 5 times. But he never gave us any problems! I just showed him where his litter box, food dishes, and scratching post were and he just settled in! Such a Good Boy!

If you’re queen of the castle, what does it mean if you change castles?

We had a cat that loved to play with his (many) toys. When we finished packing for a move, we went looking for him. He was in the back of the master closet with every one of his toys tucked around him!I guess he was making sure we didn’t miss anything.

Be careful you don’t get any of that tape on your magnificent floof, Tommy.

If you’d let me Sophie, I’d pick you up and cuddle you.

Poor Sophie. I’m right there with you. My cats did great with moving, but I’m still stressed about it months later (mostly about money stuff, ugh).

Wait, wasn’t Sophie abandoned when her previous owners moved? No wonder she’s scared. I knew a cat like that. She got really nervous when her human Mom was moving then calmed down when she realized she was going too.

Oh no! I was hoping Sophie would be into it, especially the unearthing of old and fascinating things. Be gentle here, Tommy. Existential dread (the mental state, not the wrestler) seems to have a hold. Bellowing about how everything is exciting will not help Sophie.

Okay, let’s play kitty-Kat-Lotto. How many more strips before it is discovered that one of the cats was accidentally packed into one of the boxes?

I say two strips.

Well I saw Sophie not being at all happy about this coming.. but I didn’t see the poor little lady’s utterly haunted and terrified face in the last panel. My poor baby. She looks so paralized with fear.

Exciting? It look like cat is pet-rified.

Where was the comic in which Sophie made art about change, using a roll of paper towels in the toilet? And Puck found it so motivational? Reminding her of that might help her . . .

The older I get, the less enjoyable change is.

I remember my cat Isis, we had moved several times including a cross country trip from TX to VA. Her last move was across town but she was horrified, I had locked her in a bathroom while the movers got everything out of the house and she had been frantic to get out of the bathroom all day. When everything was gone and the last thing to get was her, I opened the bathroom door and she came charging out before I could stop her, she ran to the bedroom then across the hall to the sewing room, she looked all around horrified there was nothing there and promptly ran right back into the bathroom.

That is Not the look of excitement…

In which we learn that the term “excitement” kinda covers a spectrum….

The World (as she knows it) is being destroyed. Apocalypse!

Oh, poor Sophie! All this upheaval must be torment to her sensitive artist’s soul!

Poor Sophie – she really doesn’t look “excited” about this move. Petrified, perhaps, but not excited.

I think we need a floor plan of the BPH with the addition added. I’m getting confused. There is a basement, Ground floor (empty) apt, First/Second floor (Lupin, etc) apt, Second/Third Floor (Tabitha, etc.) apt, attic to which is joined the addition and which I assume to face the side with the Ground floor apt and contain the Trust offices above which is the purple apt adjoining the offices of BCN and to which Tommy and Sophie are moving. Is that all of the addition? Did the Ground Floor apt ever rent?

Poor Sophie. It pains me to see her worried.

Sophie is terrified, Lupin and Tommy are charged up, Elvis is complaining, Puck is cool with it, Goldie is nonplussed. But what are the Robber Mice doing with all this?

I really feel for you, Sophie! Just remember, from great disruption comes great art. Maybe Tommy can fetch you some of you art supplies and you can create under the bed.

Sophie is going to be HIGHLY motivated to create a fabulous work of art the moment she moves into her new home.

Sophie is worried about the refrigerator and her art supplies.

Maverick made the move from Colorado with us, so I think he was just “meh” about the move to Miss Emily Lynn’s former home right before lockdown started. Ember hid for several days.

OT: a letter was addressed to MIL saying that her December SS payment was being taken back from her checking account, which is fine, she passed in November, but then the letter says “if [SSA] is unable to collect the full amount, you may be contacted by the agency that made the payments.”

Question: who, exactly, would contact her? Miss Cleo?

I think it’s kind of interesting how many of us here totally relate to Miss Sophie’s little heart.

Didn’t Elivs spend a couple days under a dresser once?

Looks like it will be someone else to worry about getting lost in the move.

Oh poor little kitty. I fully understand about wanting to hide some days.

I’ll join you Sophie. We need to stay under the bed, with the cats, where it is safe.

Oh, Sophie, you sweet little girl. :( My Penny had the same look on her face when we moved to a new place about 5 years ago. Sophie needs some comforting and assurance that she won’t be sent away or abandoned. Poor baby!

Not sure I’d care to be the one putting Sophie in a carrier for this move, but no doubt she’s familiar with them.
