That has to turn up somewhere on today’s comments.

Danae will do the rounds with Santa. She’ll watch as Santa replaces the lump of coal Calvin’s parents placed in his stocking. That’s my guess and I’m sticking to it

Cell and internet coverage at the North Pole is lacking. Especially since there is no land up there to put up a cell tower upon. Starlink is too expensive for Santa’s non-profit organization.

I think it’s a good idea to see the world as it really is. As a long-time science-fiction fan, I’ve had lots of practice telling the science from the fiction. That said, I really like the fiction part, too.

Also to a point: “Why do people so easily accept imagined happiness but close their eyes to real evil?”

(Note: According to pious legend, St. Nicholas, Greek Bishop of modern Demre (Turkey), surreptitiously provided a father with dowry treasure to save his daughters from forced prostitution.)

She’d like her own ‘dream implanter’ for Christmas. I wonder who she’d shoot with it first? Hmm… I’d like one too.

Santa resides on the same universal plane as GODS, fairies, and Leprechauns.

I’d urge everyone here to read the late and ever-lamented Sir Terry Pratchett’s Hogfather, in which Death sends his granddaughter Susan (“mostly human”) to search for and free the imprisoned Hogfather while he (Death) does his best to prevent loss of faith by standing in for the absent anthropomorphic personification thru the Hogswatch holiday.

“Why do people so easily accept imagined happiness but close their eyes to real evil?” Not all people but way too many.

Maybe this is like the old gods, when people stopped believing in them they faded away. They are still where ever it is that they were but without belief by people they don’t have form.People still believe in monsters under the bed and in the back of the closet, that makes them real. Santa is only on the forefront for a month or so but kids all over the world think about the monsters under the bed every night.

Anyone who doesn’t want to believe can find plenty of reasons to do so, even if they have to invoke the easter bunny conspiracy(whatever). Sophistry has a long and proud heritage among the greedy and lazy.

Santa appears to be on a hidin’ to nothin’ .. the more you try to prove they’re wrong, the more they believe they’re right – otherwise, why would they try so HARD!!?

Been there. What is real; what is a dream? Or in the words of the immortal Freddie Mercury, “Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?”
