Also, believe it or not, the temperature affects the battery. Summer is best for maximum life. Is Sonia a “lead foot” or does she like to speed? That will affect how much range she will get. Finally, is the road flat or are there hills to climb? Again, that is a factor in battery charge. I drive my electric car at 54 mph. That is the optimal speed for battery productivity. Not only do I get more battery life, but I also never worry about speed traps, and I always (no kidding) meet the hot foot driver at the next light.

If you use a $10,000 government subsidy to buy a $70,000 Electric vehicle and then use subsidized charging stations to transfer wealth from others to charge your car, how much have you ripped off from other taxpayers?

When your EV battery dies and you have to shell out $20,000 to replace it in 5 years, how many people will you blame besides yourself?

When the carbon footprint for using your EV is not reduced one cintilla, how many hours a day will you still virtue signal?

When you can’t drive from one state to another without an over night stay in a hotel, and when your social credit score shuts down your ability to charge and you are stranded will you finally realize the whole thing was a scam? Likely not.

This is not a “math” problem; this is a high-school-level (at minimum) physics problem.

(Inasmuch as about 80% of physics boils down to your ability to use math, however…..)

Charger info is irrelevant. 85% of 40 is around 34… Average EV gets 100mi in 34.6kiloWatts so we just need to know the distance

We need to know how far her grandma’s house is, and what the car’s range is when fully charged.

Also, Wren’s looking awfully pale.

The answer is Sonia is a GOOD PERSON because she has an EV. If Zoe answers this way she will get an “A”. That’s how all math problems are designed these days. Not for mathematics so much as philosophy.

Energy input is 240 volts times 30 amps times time required to reach 85% of 40 kilowatt hours or 34 kilowatt hours.

240 volts times 30 amps equals 7200 volt amps equals 7200 watts equals 7.2 kilowatts or 7.2 kilowatt hours per hour.

34 kilowatt hours divided by 7.2 kilowatt hours per hour is 4 hours 43 minutes twenty seconds maximum. (Give or take)

Is it single phase or 3 phase socket? And what’s the battery’s maximum kwh intake? And as other people noted, what’s the starting charge? Definitely need more data.
