Checking on the wife to make sure that she is not sunbathing doesn’t count? Or wine delivery to the bather, also does not count?

Arlo is a very good cook, if a very messy one, so his hobby could be cooking? (The Hubs bakes bread, tinkers with a 3D printer & has a wood-turning lathe.)

He’d probably like to sketch from live models. So many male atrists seem to have gravitated there.

I haven’t put pencil to paper for years. Recently that old urge is coming back. I found my old drawing pads, pencils and charcoals. I will soon find out if any of my meager talent remains.

What’s happening here is that she’s trying to get him into the garden and try his hand at drawing. Some of the more “mature” comments above may then be prophetic.

We have too many hobbies. We each work in a variety of media making (and attempting to sell) crafted items. Our garage is his woodshop. Our living room is his loom room for weaving. The finished part of our basement is where his leather shop is, he cuts mats, we store fabric on the bolt and cut same, store finished projects. The “family room” off our kitchen is our main studio.

We are also 18th century civilian reenactors. I have made most of our clothing. Our living room has two wooden boxes with rope handles – looks nice in our “tavern room” and we bring them to events to sit on and store our things in – including items we have made to sell or demonstrate at events. We are officers of our unit and spend a decent amount of time dealing with the business of the unit.

I do embroidery – modern and 18th century – that I do not sell (would never get what the labor in it should cost) including demonstrating at the 18th century events.

He collects James Bond books (some first editions) and memorabilia. I collect Louisa May Alcott books (some dating to the 1800s). I also have a extensive teddy bear (and friends as some are other than teddys) both plush and figurines who take up the smallest bedroom of our house, a corner unit in our living room and there is a village of the bears which change more or less monthly in our upper hall.

The bears in particular have been a God-send during the pandemic in giving us things to do during the pandemic. We could also “go” to the Teddy Bear Village and “visit” with them.
