There’s going to be more crying than sighing as more kids go back to in-person schooling—the Delta variant has been putting way more kids in the hospital in the last few weeks than the original COVID did all last year.
Many broadcast that they won’t wear masks or accept vaccinations because they are standing on their principles. Wonder if that response is still of comfort to them when they are standing at the graveside of a loved one who also didn’t wear a mask?
In Albuquerque, where my grandkids go to school, the first week of in-person school for middle schoolers was marred by a 13 year old fatally shooting another over bullying. The shooting victim was not even the bully or the bullying victim; he was trying to get the bully to stop.
In home schooling isn’t gone away. Already some school systems have gone back to banning in-school learning due to the rise of Covid cases in their facilities.
Not for long. In fact, I don’t think we’ve seen the worst yet in the past 15 months – I think it’s still in the future, and won’t begin to curb until all the anti-vax Darwin Award winners die off.
Not in my community. I don’t even live in one of the red zones and we’ve had 3 adult deaths and had multiple kids in the ICU thanks to some idiots who figured “Kids don’t get that sick with it” or “It’s all a hoax”. Nobody’s sending their kids back to in-person. Population here is less than 3500.
No No No in person schooling, the CDC has decreed that we continue distance learning. Because of the Delta variant followed by the Echo variant and Foxtrot variant. Like with the Infinite Improbability Drive, we may never reach Normality.
Just get the @#$%^&*() vaccination already, for Chrissakes. Enough of this jibberjabber about hoaxes, government tyranny, chip implants and all that conspiracy BS. It’s one thing if your choice affects just you, but that isn’t always the case. Be a PUBLIC citizen.
We didn’t care about old people and COVID until enough old people died to make us care. We didn’t care about middle-aged people and COVID until enough middle-aged people died to make us care. We’re just starting to care about young people and COVID now that maybe enough young people are dying to make us care. We won’t care about COVID in children until enough children die to make us care. How many children will it take?
Folks, don’t comment directly to trolls (don’t comment in the same “box” they’ve posted a response or made an original comment in). Doing so gives the comments/posting points that a lot of them collect. Those are imaginary internet points. They’re not trying to prove an issue most of the time. It’s only a BS game to most of them and it’s over imaginary points that aren’t worth a thing. Much like the Turd Reich isn’t worth anything. It’s almost all about lies and disinformation and being like the 12 year old kid who keeps asking “why?” and telling you that you must be wrong no matter if they know anything about it or (much more often) not. If you catch them at it or being racist or hateful, flag ‘em! Otherwise move to the bottom of the page to start a new comment or respond otherwise to someone who isn’t a troll and doesn’t have fake internet points envy.

History says one pandemic lasted 4 years so remote learning may return. It’s for the safety of the children and teachers….

Don’t count your chickens before they’re hatched. A kid sneezes or his temperature is a degree too high, he’s back home again on Zoom.
