Manchin is trying to protect democracy and is trying to wheel and deal in the vein of his predecessor Byrd. It is unfortunate what the Republicans are doing.
Surveys in West Virginia show even his constituency doesn’t support his ideas, even though he claims he’s speaking for them. Follow the money. Who’s paying him off?
Some still refuse to believe that our binary, opposing-party, winner-take-all, small win margin election system is no more than a zero-sum outcome where dysfunction is the only winner.
zero-sum
adjective
relating to or denoting a situation in which whatever is gained by one side is lost by the other.
This is all the more reason we need MORE Dems in the Congress especially the Senate so the likes of Manchin will have no effect. Though the chances are not usually good to reverse the trend during the midterm elections, we still have the anti-Dump effect in our favor. The more Dump acts crazy, you know normal for him, the more we Dems will have a real physical enemy to attack. Let the Dumpster continue to be the standard bearer of the Repub party. This just gives another reason to bring the Repubs down.
LBJ used to say that a bill that passed with the slimmest of majorities was well-crafted and bipartisan. Manchin is obviously a believer in that philosophy.
Politicians that are more concerned about money, feathering their own nest, and most of all, moving up the food chain! I’m shocked, Shocked I say! Well… Not so shocked. It only takes one or two divas to throw a monkey wrench into the whole system. But even those two aren’t going to have the moderates goose stepping into the Capitol Building. They could soon be as big a threat to the democratic system as Joe McCarthy by tying up the congress like that schmuck did but having a big ego isn’t the only sin that turns a nation rabid.
Apparently Joe Manchin is the only Democrat that can think for himself. He is thinking of the right thing to do for the American people not for his party to get more power.
Then-Senator John F. Kennedy won the Pulitzer Prize for his 1956 book Profiles in Courage, which detailed stories of 8 earlier senators with the integrity to do the right thing for the country despite having to pay a personal price for it due to its unpopularity in their party or home states. I doubt that Joe Manchin has ever read that book, let alone gleaned its major lesson about the judgment of history.

Manchin is a Republican example of who we need to rid ourselves of at the polls.

Having the power to obstruct is an addictive drug … just like McConnell’s addiction.

as frustrating as Manchin is being, I don’t want to have the Dem’s turn into lockstep obstructo-bots like the GQP.
